Am I the only one who was upset by Depression Barbie in the movie Barbie? All over social media people are praising it, saying “yes that’s me” or “I’m in my depression Barbie phase right now” or relating to the acts of crying and watching Pride & Prejudice over and over. But I thought I would see more people being upset about it. It upsets me because depression isn’t always just crying and rewatching your favorite movies. Depression is sometimes going to a family wedding and smiling, laughing, and having a good time. I feel like it takes away from the fact that many people suffer but still have to put on their “mask” to face the world. I may be overthinking this but it just didn’t sit right with me and I’ve yet to see someone else who agrees with me. Thanks!
