Misunderstood

Man, I've lost so many years because of misdiagnosis. They said it was depression, or that I was an addict – they're linked, sure. But really, those were just side effects of my ADHD as a woman with hormonal changes. If I'd been treated for ADHD as a teen, my life would've been totally different. I wouldn't have had to chase quick dopamine fixes for instant gratification, because there would've been medication for female ADHD, like a stimulant and an antidepressant. I don't actually suffer from anxiety; it's more like an internal rummaging, almost like butterflies in your stomach that makes me feel anxious.

So many years, I've been misunderstood, not normal with autistic quirks, a little eccentric. I've been told if I just worked harder, I'd do better. I hated school because it was boring, and my hormones in my teenage years made me act out severely with my undiagnosed ADHD.

There are so many women with late ADHD diagnoses... all saying life could have been so different if we'd known about female ADHD and hormonal changes. # #ADHD #Perimenopause #LateDiagnosis #femaleadhd #Hormones

👋🏻 I’m Back & I Missed You! 👋🏻

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I am back after an extremely busy, exciting and life changing year (more on that later) and that I will be back to raising awareness of various physical health issues, mental health issues and disability. I am so thankful that I am able to return to this amazing community of people who are always there for support and encouragement.

Did your FND Diagnosis Come With One Of These?

From speaking to people who live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), it seems that there is something that seems to be a common experience for many people – that they were given a scrap of paper with some website addresses written on it at the same time as they received their FND diagnosis. This was certainly the case for me when I was diagnosed with FND – 2 websites (one for @fndhope and the other for neurosymptoms) scribbled on a torn off piece of paper. So, I am interested to know how many other people have also experienced this when they were diagnosed with FND.

Suggestions on fidget toys/tools for anxiety and managing procrastination while reading & studying🙏🏿

I have to read A LOT for my courses to catch up, but I can't seem to just go all in like I used to😭

I was thinking of using fidget tools/toys for stress relief/anxiety.

However, I have limited movement in my hands and they're quite weak.

So...please any recommendations haha 😅 I was thinking slime? Or a version of thinking putty? Or a fidget ring ? Or an acupuncture fidget ring?

Any and all help would be mightily appreciated🥰

Sending virtual hugs to everyone 💜
