Monday Comes to a Close

#Depression & #Anxiety

Today I feel #sad and I cannot pinpoint exactly where or what it’s from because there’s a lot…

• I miss who I was before all this.
• I yearn for that special connection.
• I don’t like how I feel or not feel.
• I feel #numb today.
• My moods are all over the place (aunty Flo is visiting).
• I’ve had head pain all day.
• I watch tv and I’d envy the characters and wished I was them.
• I don’t want to do anything.

Yet, with that I’m also feeling…

• I know what to do to get better, but I don’t do it.
• I don’t want that connection with someone because they’ll always end up leaving anyway.
• I know my feelings, yet I don’t fight it.
• It’s not numbness, just #phantompain
• It’s normal because our menstrual cycle messes with our hormones.
• Again, from the menses.
• Characters in a movie or TV are fake, just like the ones that hurt me.
• I just don’t have energy that’s why. Aunty Flo takes a lot out of you.

But tomorrow will be another day, and it WILL be better.

Phantom pains/ over awareness of my body

I’m not sure if this is the right place to be asking this question. If anyone has any insight at all that would it would be much appreciated. I have these moments where I’m overly aware of my body. Especially my bones. Like I get aware of how my heels or toes are stepping on the ground or how my wrists are resting on the table and then I get phantom pains in them. It’s mostly my wrists and ankles. No matter what I do I can’t get the pain to go away and I can’t ignore that body part. It gives me anxiety being over obsessive about it. I’m sure it’s a symptom of anxiety or something. Does anyone else get this? #Anxiety #Pain #phantompain

I'm Not OK #Depression

It's a bad day. Just tired of dealing with the same loneliness and depression all the time. To top it all off I am having bad #Pain in my foot and #phantompain in my amputated foot. I just wish everything could end. I need Dr. Kervorkian because I apparently can't do it on my own. Everyone around me including me would be better off

Monday Struggles #Depression #phantompain #Diabetes

Today my struggle is mental and physical as well. My depression is still ramping up and I feel it will come to a head soon. But today my phantom pain is real as well. I am feeling a lot of pain in my amputated right foot. It was on the outside of the ankle and has now moved to the top of the foot. The Gabbapentin I take for nerve pain is not helping right now.

As I mentioned also, I can feel my depression getting worse and sense I will soon be in the hospital again. It's been almost two years sine I was in a behavioral unit, 14 months since I was in for anything physical. That's the most time I have spent out of a hospital in almost five yers, so I have that going for me.

Don't let anyone tell you that phantom pain is not real though

Phantom pain #LimbAmputation #LimbDifference

I just did this really cool study. I got this post from my amputee support group for this guy at the University of San Francisco who is studying ways to help people who have #phantompain . He's still looking for a few people to do the study, so I thought I would post it here in case anyone is interested. You do it over FaceTime or Skype for 5 days, and at the end there is a drawing for a some Amazon gift cards as a thank you. There's a pretty good chance of winning one because it is a pretty small study. Here's the information:

Hello friends, I am a graduate student conducting a study on phantom limb pain. This free online study requires just one hour a day for 5 days in a row, and seeks to help amputees with their phantom pain levels. We are offering a drawing for participants who complete all 5, 1-hour sessions, to win a $50 or one of two $25 gift certificates to amazon.com (3 separate prizes). If you live with phantom limb pain, please click the link below to see if you qualify for this new study: www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z2CXNFT

Phantom pain is misnamed #phantompain #amputations #depressu

I’ve got real bad phantom pain in my right foot which was amputated three years ago and also “real” pain in the stump. Phantom pain is misnamed as it is just as real as “real” pain. It’s affecting my depression
