Reasons to Live During the Holiday Season —

1) to feel the cold, or warmth (depending where you are), of the atmosphere around you.
2) to spend time with loved ones & your furry friends
3) time to relax and unwind
4) the taste of apple cider, hot chocolate, and eggnog
5) even amongst the struggling, there is a feeling of somewhat lightness in the air
6) giving, if you can, to people in need
7) time to be mindful and grateful for things that you usually wouldn’t be
8) cheesy Hallmark movies
9) baking cookies
10) receiving is also wonderful
11) learning about other’s traditions
12) practicing your own traditions
13) ugly, but comfy, Christmas sweaters
14) you are worth so much more than you can imagine to some that you’d never expect
15) the world around you changes with your outlook! It takes time, but I’m a testament to this belief
16) the world wouldn’t be the same without you
17) there are many things yet to be explored
19) fuzzy blankets
20) it’s socially acceptable to wear decorative socks!!

I know that a lot of these seem random, but in my experience finding things to look forward to benefited me greatly. Stay safe! Stay Strong! You’ve got this!!! #Depression #Anxiety #Selfharm #EatingDisorders #ReasonsToKeepGoing #Recovery

#ReasonsToKeepGoing

To see the beautiful colors of changing leaves in the fall. Always a great reminder of seasons changing and the hope for positive days ahead.

#ReasonsToKeepGoing

I really appreciated getting today's email notice about Reasons to Keep Going because right now I'm seeing so many reports of cruel behavior toward women, people of color, immigrants, poor people and people like us who have chronic conditions. As a Christian, I turn to scripture for solace, especially the Psalms and the Gospels. Today I'm clinging to Luke 1:39-46, where Mary proclaims what has come to be called "The Magnificat."

So here's my list of reasons to keep going

1. My faith
2. My family, especially my beloved husband and our adult son.
3. My dog, a rescued Border Collie named Sheena
4. My local church community.
5. Seeing the surprise on people's faces when I treat them kindly.
6. The ability to move without pain after years of back trouble.
7. Having a nice house -- nothing fancy, just a house, but more than so many people have.
8. Enough money to live modestly.
9. Music, music, music.
10. Going to the fitness center twice a week for pool exercise.
11. The ability to read and reason.
12. Nice clothes.
13. The ability to sew and crochet and make prayer beads for others.
14. Cooking and eating.

There are more things, I'm sure, but this is enough to go on for now. Blessings to all. -- Cynthia

#RadicalAcceptance #ReasonsToKeepGoing #ARDSsurvivor #septicshocksurvivor #Postintensivecaresyndrom

Hello all ya Mighty people

I’m on from Denmark so bear with me if I make mistakes as English is not my native language.

As a very very lucky survivor of both septic shock and severe ARDS, I have been inspired by the Mightys challenge to share my 3 most radical acceptances ... here goes :

1. The small : I WILL accept now and finally, that my mom, dad and sister - and several more - will never ever try to understand and respect the battle I fight every single day just to get through the day

2. The medium : this should be easy, but I have to remember to count my BLESSINGS even when extreme exhaustion, ICU flashbacks, death-anxiety, brain fog and despair are drowning out all other emotions !

3. The big one : I AM A MIRACLE - I survived something that kills more than 75% and my own GP says he’s never known anybody to survive this! SO EVERY SINGLE DAY IS A MIRACLE - and I will meet it as such, despite ptsd, anxiety, brain fog and exhaustion!

Has anybody made a written declaration of their own radical acceptance statements to hang and better to remember on the really bad days ?

Love to ya all from me 😍
