Rescue

I didn’t plan on bringing home another betta.

I had promised myself I wouldn’t, not after Papi.

Papi was fiesta and fire,

all color, attitude, and confidence.

He filled the space with personality,

tiny but impossible to ignore.

When he was gone,

the silence felt too big to fill.

I told myself never again.

And then there was Echo.

His water was cloudy,

his fins dull and tired,

but when I saw him, he looked right at me.

There were others, brighter and flashier,

but I couldn’t walk away from him.

Something about that moment felt familiar,

like being chosen back.

He wasn’t Papi’s flame.

He was the warmth that remained after the fire—

gentle, steady, soft.

Maybe that’s what love does when it returns.

It doesn’t shout this time;

it simply shows up.

Now Echo swims in clear water,

calm and curious,

watching the world the way I watch him.

Papi was fire.

Echo is calm water.

Both found me

when I needed them most.

She’s been by my side throughout this past year, and I am so grateful 💕💕💕

Only had a few weeks, grown a lot since then! She’s only 5 months old, already 13kg they said she’s be that fully grown 😂 she’s very vocal and loves to play. Very shy of people but an angel 💛 getting more confident by the day 💛

Today just about every though posted had a pet moment, they help us so much! So this is my latest rescue and my newest caretaker, Kaito. He was rescued from a TX pound when 6 other Jindos, he was also the youngest. He is mostly black, kimd of hard to see.
My belief is that they were breeder stock and Kaito could not be sold bc he is missing the tip of his tail. He has been ignored all his life, no training what so ever, had never seen a TV or lived in a home.
He is the sweetest dog, took on to family life right away and decided to care for me. He is a Korean Jindo, 3 years old and he has the same coloring as a Rottweiler so people think he is mixed with one! My hope is to actually train him as a therapy pet. He protects me by blocking anyone trying to get close, including hubby. He is not aggressive but very much a scoundrel at times
