When I realized I had Chronic Pains/Illnesses

When I realized I had a Chronic Illness
I was 15 when I had a compression fracture in two vertebra. When I was around 9 years old, I almost paralyzed myself by falling out of a tree and hitting my back on a fence post. Both of these issues have caused me great deals of back pain, for majority of my life. My back has always felt tense since I fell out of the tree. My tailbone and lower back have always felt tense and filled with pressure since my fracture. Since I was 8 years old, I’ve had asthma because of allergies and my environment. I never realized those things were chronic illnesses, and I will always have those issues. I will always feel like my back is tense and there’s too much pressure, and I’ll never be able to breathe “correctly” every again. I only realized they were a chronic illness when I told a nurse that I’ve been seeing for a long time when she asked me what my pain was that day. I answered truthfully and told her my back was in pain. She asked me for how long it had been going on, and I told her a while, but I’m used to it because of my broken back, and she looked at me and said, “oh so it’s a chronic illness. Okay.” and went on with everything. I hadn’t every realized that, I hadn’t ever realized that there are people I can reach out to for help, but now I do. #ChronicPain #Asthma #BrokenBack
