Seasons Stand Still

For this moment the seasons stop,

Sorrow, grief, pain fill my heart.

I was always there for you, strong for us.

Now the seasons stop, and I stand still—

To breathe the pain of your loss,

To feel my broken heart --

To learn to live without you.

Gone too soon are those endearing green eyes, crooked smile, ridiculous jokes,

Teaching moments---and long talks over coffee with family and friends.

You left us here, you slipped away, never to be understood---

And even your troubled heart will be missed.

Over time, this present, strange comfort of darkness will be replaced

Your brilliance will shine on through those you left behind.
