What are Mighty groups?

Groups are a central part of The Mighty experience. They are the best places to form meaningful connections with people who share your health conditions, interests, dentity or more.

How do they work? Here’s a few quick facts:

🔒 Groups can be public or private. Posts in public groups can be seen by anyone on The Mighty, but only group members can post and reply. Posts in private groups can ONLY be seen by members of that particular group. These are especially good for more sensitive topics and/or small-group discussions.

🌈 There are many kinds of groups: condition-specific, mental health, general support, chronic illness, parenting, identity-based, disability, hobbies/interests, caregiving and uplifting.

🔍 You can also utilize the search tool to browse for groups by keyword (e.g., PTSD or Bipolar).

Don’t see the right group for you? Create your own!

What are some tips for posting on The Mighty?

While there are certainly no "wrong" ways to post in the community, we did want to pass along a few tips that might help your content get in front of the "right" people: others who experience the same condition, or even share similar struggles.

🤔 DECIDE where you want the post to live. Do you want everyone on The Mighty to potentially see it? Post to the main feed. Do you want to post in front of an audience with shared experiences? Choose a group to post to instead.

📸 TRY using a graphic or photo when you post. Images are eye-catching and make it more likely for posts to stand out in the feeds.

#⃣ USE hashtags (like #Anxiety ) when you post so others who follow those topics or conditions will be more likely to read, heart and comment on your Thoughts and Questions.

Ready to give it a try? Make a post in this group or in the larger Mighty community!

Who is who on The Mighty?

You’ll see different badges and titles as you look around The Mighty. Here’s what some of those mean.

❤ Mighty Staff are working in various ways to keep the community safe, happy and connected. Don’t be afraid to say hi! Talking with Mighty members is their absolute favorite.

⭐ Group leaders (or community leaders) maintain the private/public venues for extended conversation on specific topics (like The Pencil Case !). If you enjoy their posts or want to help out, let them know.

🏆 Mighty Leaders (like me!) are members who know the platform and community well. We help out new folks and work to keep discussions active and rewarding.

✍️ Super Contributors, through their writing and diverse perspectives, help ensure that Mighty voices are heard far and wide through their published stories.

💡Nonprofit organizations, medical experts and advocates are identified with badges so you know who can be an informational resource on The Mighty.

Here’s your task for today: Find 5⃣ Mighties who interest you, across these various roles, and follow their posts (via their profile).

How can you get the most out of your experience on The Mighty?

Let’s talk about how you can optimize your Mighty experience using a few simple tools.

🔔 NOTIFICATIONS are managed in your profile settings — get alerted about the things that are most important to you (like comments, replies and hearts).

➕ FOLLOW topics that matter to you and people whose posts grab you, and JOIN the groups that intrigue and inspire you. This will make your Mighty feed more focused on what you want to see.

🕸 FILTER your feed to show what you’re looking for (latest? trending?). Browsing stories and reading posts lets you soak in different perspectives, and you might even find yourself motivated to share as well!

🔍 Not sure where to look? Click on an interesting hashtag (we love #CheckInWithMe !) to explore, or use the search function to see what you can find.

How can you stay safe on The Mighty?

Always remember that you’re in control of your experience on The Mighty. We recommend you tailor your feed by following people and topics that interest and feel safe to you.

Our moderation team is also here to support you! Every post, comment or direct message can be reported to a Mighty moderator for review. Use the reporting function (be sure to include a reason as to why you’re reporting) and the 24/7 support team will be on it!

You can report problematic or questionable users as well. If you decide to block someone, you won’t see any of their posts and in turn, they won’t see yours.

Wherever you see the "shield" icon, that’s where you can access these options all in one place. The Mighty Support System lets you report, alert and block. It also includes helpful links and resources for members who may need extra support in their day.
