Lifelong Constipation Strikes Again #constipation #InflammatoryBowelDiseaseIBD #nausea #IrritableBowelSyndromeIBS #Bathroomtalk
It's been a total of five weeks so far, and I've had one bowel movement. I've been on prescription level laxatives for two weeks now, and I got them after two weeks of trying all my life-learned tricks to use at home had failed.
I have had chronic constipation my entire life. My family sat through taking me to the hospital time and time again when I couldn't get off the floor, every scan in the books, a myriad of diet changes, and enough laxatives, softeners, and fiber to make anyone sick.
Surgery was turned down when I was younger because my mom didn't want me to have an ostomy bag. Sometimes I wish she had just gone through with it. I get so full of gas, inflammation and bowels that I have been mistaken for late pregnancy by strangers. It can be humiliating. And honestly, I'm tired of no longer being physically able to go to the bathroom without medical force.
My final straw before going back to the doctor this time was when I used a bag enema, which I have done many times, and only water came back out. But it's been another two weeks of heavy laxatives and a liquid diet and I have only had one minor success. I went back for a re-check and I am waiting on another visit to the GI doctor.
As I lay here on the bathroom floor again, with all the gurgles, extra gas, waves of nausea and cramps, back pain and hot flashes...I'm watching Vlogs on YouTube from fellow sufferers to pass the time and feel less alone, to feel hopeful.
I will try to call the GI back later and see if my appointment will be soon, and if not, or I continue to get worse until then, I'll head to the hospital and hope they can provide relief in the meantime.
