Your kind Monday reminder

Please take excellent care of yourself.
However that may look depending on what you need.
You are valuable and important and deserve self-care!
The holidays can be such a rough time for a myriad of different reasons, factors, and circumstances.
For me, Christmas is my favorite time of year.
But... I also have to spend much more time with some very toxic people.
And that challenges me so much.
I've made a "Christmas Coping List" on my phone.
And I've asked a Mighty bestie to check in on me and help me remember to use my list - I often forget what's good for me.
Especially when I get caught up in old, toxic family patterns and trauma responses...
So today I am here to remind you to help yourself get through the holidays.
You deserve your own help and support.
Please be on your own side.
I wish you the best week - and the best Christmas - you can possibly have.

You don't EVER have to qualify for self-care!
You have ALWAYS qualified for it by default.
In my country we have a terrible saying and standard: "Du skal yde, før du kan nyde".
It means, you have to do before you can enjoy and rest.
But because there's always something to do and get done, many don't ever make it to the enjoy and rest part - I didn't.
Not until a therapist told me to flip the saying: to enjoy and rest first, then do.
I am not good at this, yet.
I still feel I need to have everything done before I get to care for myself.
But I am working on making more room for self-care, enjoyment and rest.
And this week I hope you do the same.

I looove Christmas.
But due to #anhedonia and emotional numbness it can be difficult to feel "The Christmas Spirit".
And that makes me very sad.
On top of the sadness, I was already experiencing...
That's no good.
So I am trying to redefine what The Christmas Spirit means to me.
And it's now more about embracing the good, cozy, and Christmassy moments that do actually come along (however fleeting they may be) - than it is expecting to be in the Christmas mood all the time.
I am showing myself understanding and grace.
And however you feel about Christmas and The Christmas Spirit, I hope you show yourself the same.

I am having a really rough start to the week...
Drained, depressed, and drowning in all I need to do and get done.
A good friend reminded me to try to take better care of myself.
And not push myself so far beyond my capabilities.
It's just really hard to accept that I'm not able to do the things, I would like to do, due to lack of energy and mental health issues.
But I have to try to take care of myself today...
I have a very important meeting tomorrow.
So I'll cancel a course today to be able to go to that meeting tomorrow.
I feel terrible for canceling.
But I can't go.
I need a mental health day.
As we face a new week, I hope you'll do what you need to do to take care of yourself - whatever that may look like on any given day.
And I wish you the best possible week, you can have.

As we start a new week, I wanted to kindly bring your attention to your inner dialog.
How do you speak to yourself?
What do you tell yourself about you and your life?
If you're like me, this dialog is often a harsh one.
One filled with self-criticism, self-judgement and self-belittlement.
But I now know how negative and diminishing this is - and that it is in fact possible to choose a kinder and more graceful way to speak to and about myself.
It's hard to change.
It even feels wrong to be kinder to myself.
But I do believe it's the right thing to do for my mental health and wellbeing.
So here's to another week of practice.
And I want to wish you the best week, you can possibly have.

Hi everyone.
Thank you for being here and for being you!
I have been thinking a lot about "taking up space".
Because I've found out, I have never been allowed to take up space.
I've never been allowed to take up space in my own life.
My thoughts, needs, and wants weren't considered important by several impactful relationships in my life.
But now I am slowly learning that they are!
I am slowly learning that I am allowed to take up space in my own life.
I am allowed to have needs, feelings, and wants.
This is very new to me.
So I am practicing baby steps - and I am falling on my face a lot.
But I'll continue to practice.
And as we start this week of, I wanted to remind you:
You are allowed to take up space too!
You're allowed to have needs, feelings, and wants.
They - and you - are valid and important.
I wish you the best possible week, you can have.

Your kind Monday reminder

I was hurt deeply by my dad yesterday.
And every single time I am hurt, I begin to question and doubt my experience of the situation.
Am I being too dramatic?
Am I overreacting?
Am I being too sensitive?
Am I making a fuss?
I've been told all these things by several important people in my life.
And I've internalized the invalidation.
My therapist says that I chronically invalidate myself...
So I fact check with people I actually trust - people who know me and value me.
And NO!
I am not being too dramatic, overreacting, being too sensitive, or making a fuss.
I was hurt!
And I am recovering now.
As we start this week, I wanted to remind you:
You are valid.
Your feelings are valid.
We are allowed to feel what we feel!

Saw this Halloween themed reminder of things not to be scared of.
And I thought it was very cute and spot on.
I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning because of the busy week I have ahead of me.
It was quite overwhelming.
And kinda crushing for someone like me given the challenges i face daily...
But I got out of bed and even ended up having a good morning - which was a very welcomed surprise.
Reminding myself that this week I'll definitely be needing:
"Carving time out for self care"
And
"Taking care of your own needs".

Another week is ahead of us.
And I have another kind Monday for you - if you should need it.
This one is about things you should not feel guilty for - a reminder I surely need.
And it is Halloween themed.
Thought is was very cute🎃
I especially needed to hear:

"Taking things at your own pace".
I am recovering from fall break and a vacation.
