Not So "Social" Media

With all the different Social Media apps and websites it can be all too easy to lose yourself along the way. In focusing on your on-line life with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and all the other popular apps, it is way to easy to let in all the toxic things that are out there. The sports rivalries, popularity contests, selfies, the political fighting, the news itself...all things that can be very damaging to your mental health. We find ourselves immersed in other peoples drama and lives and often times get dragged into it. We have to check our feed constantly. Whats going on? Who said this? Has anything happened in the last ten minutes? Then we realize we have become hooked.

That is why I have taken a break from Social Media. I have deactivated all my accounts and put them on pause. I may return to them in some form some day, but for now I need to focus on me and my own health, and that is perfectly ok. If you are in that place, that mindset of having to be online constantly, of being negatively affected by your Social Media life, here is a reminder, maybe even an encouragement to unplug. put up an away message or temporarily shut down your Social Media (most of them have a "temporary deactivate" feature that lets you have a 30 day or more break if you need it, without losing your account) and focus on yourself and your own mental health for a while. Heal your own mind and worry less about the drama unfolding online. Trust me, it helps more than you realize, because, as I have found, you are probably more hooked into your online life than you realize. #MentalHealth #Addiction #selfcare #toxicity #MightyTogether #savethefalling

Taking time...

When I first started writing these #MightyThoughts my goal was to do a few a week. That goal has gone by the wayside. I have spent the last few weeks battling #Depression and other things in my own life, leaving me without the energy to put into helping other people, or writing much of anything.

The thing is, that's is ok. Sometimes we need to take time for ourselves. To focus on our own battles before we can help others in theirs. As long as we remember we are not alone, that there are others out there to help us. It can be hard to do that. #MentalIllness does that. It drains our energy. It causes us to be blind to the hands reaching out to help us. Just remember that when you have your down time, when your battles get hard...there are others in that battlefield. You are not alone. #NeverAlone #MightyTogether #MentalHealthAwareness #savethefalling

I am beyond worthy because...

I am worth the fight to live, worth the time spent here.
I am meant for something more than giving up, giving in and living in fear.
I am here for a reason, a season, a purpose and this illness cannot stop that.

Fighting this beast is not in vain,
I know it's face, I know it's name.
I have wrestled it for years.
I know it's weaknesses, I've cried it's tears.
For my strength I am worthy.
For my drive I am worthy.
For my heart and open hand i am worthy.
But not just me…

For our struggles we are beyond worthy,
For our battles and scars and pieces of hearts we are worthy.
For the valley we walk and the shadows that stalk us
We are worthy.

You are worthy
I am worthy
Everyday we go on, we are beyond worthy.

Keep calm and carry on.

Today has been a rough one for me. #Anxiety is high and #Depression is knocking on my door. Through all this I will continue to fight for myself and others. That's what I mean when I say #savethefalling .

Even when we are under fire, we can carry on and move to victory, and in the process bring someone along with us. Remember: you are not in this alone. This is a community and an army of soldiers fighting #MentalIllness . You can do this. You can win this battle, even if it doesn't always feel like it. Just remember that, as we head into #SuicidePreventionMonth You are not alone. Help is out here. ☮️💙☯️ #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAdvocacy
