Missing my soulmate on Giving Tuesday #Glioblastoma #grievingprocess #Loneliness #

I made a donation to Brain Cancer group for Giving Tuesday, in honor of my late husband who passed May 2019 after a 14-month fight. Then dissolved in tears for 20 minutes. Grief comes and goes for so long. I miss him every day! 💜💜💜

Everyday memory and processing #Glioma #BrainCancers

I am currently a PhD student based at the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Centre at Cardiff University. My PhD is focussed on developing a screening tool for the cognitive deficits experienced by patients with high-grade gliomas after receiving radiotherapy.

I am currently looking for patients, their family and friends, and healthcare professionals to share their experiences of how everyday memory and processing is altered following radiotherapy.

If you would like to take part in this short survey, if can be found at

Please feel free to contact me, either on here or on my email (mazzaschifi@cardiff.ac.uk), if you have any questions, or would just like to know a bit more about my work.

Highs and Lows

My high this week was the Hospice Nurse coming to get my husband registered so they can help with caring for him.
My low was finding my husband on the bedroom floor at 4 am...he had removed his diaper to go to the bathroom, had an accident on the bed and fell. It took me 45 minutes to get him back in bed with a dry diaper. Now I’m freaking out because it’s so depressing to see his declining and I just want to give up sometimes. Every step back feels like a lead weight on my soul.

Cancer sucks

Today I met with the man from Hospice...my hubby has Glioblastoma Grade 4 (brain cancer). It’s malignant and very aggressive. He’s going downhill very fast and our 14 year anniversary is next week. I was cleaning up urine from the mattress and changing sheets at midnight last night. I feel cried out right now. He’s hardly speaking anymore. I’m slowly losing my love, my soulmate and my best friend.

Patience

#CheckInWithMe my hubby has Glioblastoma Grade 4 and is just not himself since a seizure last Sunday; he gets mad over nothing, barely speaks, sleeps in his recliner all day, shuffles like he’s 100 and takes 2-3 minutes to get out of car...it’s like having a 3-year old again. I need more patience than I have. #patience #BrainTumor #Glioblastoma
