Sometimes we often find ourselves wanting to always be there for others. Fixing the problem, saving the day, or just listening to them vent about their frustrations/issues. We find ourselves at functions and events that we really do not enjoy but didn't want to disappoint anyone or hurt feelings. We commit to so many things that at the end of the day we find resentment when penciling it onto the calendar that the word "Yes" even left our lips.
I am one of those people. The one who can never say No. The one who thinks she wears a cape and has to save the whole world from whatever disaster may strike next. The oldest of 5 siblings, so the weight is heaviest on my shoulders so who else is going to fix it if not me? But guess what? Not EVERYTHING is my issue. Not EVERYTHING is my problem to fix. Not EVERYTHING can be saved. And it is perfectly acceptable to say NO to anything and anyone. Especially if I truly do not want to go to see that particular movie or engage in that particular social scene. It doesn't make me anti-social. It doesn't make me a homebody or lame. It simply means that I am strong enough to stand up for my own well-being whether that is mental, emotional, or physical in that moment.
Every day is an opportunity to practice learning that it is OKAY to take care of YOU first. Because if YOU are NOT OKAY than when a moment comes that someone who truly needs you to say YES to helping them arrives; you will not be in a position to do so mentally, emotionally, or physically. Be well my friends and remember to just let go. Everything will really be OKAY 😊 #letgo #itsokaytobeokay #takecareofyou #MentalHealthAwareness
