Clouds

A face so beautiful
Filled with joy and light
So pure and full of laughter
Truly a rare sight

Than a single phrase
tossed carelessly to the breeze
the laughter that follows it
Undos years of happiness with ease

Before we know it she’s gone
That single phrase a cloud if you will
Has grown in size gaining momentum
And now brings a desperate chill

She screams into the night
Her tears are falling hard and fast
Now she’s in deep
It grows stronger it knows she won’t last

It’s now a full storm,
The phrase thundering loud in her ears
Dark clouds cloud her vision
Those clouds are her fears

Embarrassment hits
It's so overwhelming it’s frightening
Then the laughter that follows
It’s as painful as a bolt of lightning

Now a new voice to add to the mix
But this one says get up and fight
Confusion clouds a desperate face
But this face isn’t going to cry tonight

She stands up ready to fight
The laughter stops
Momentarily shocked
Realising they’re just pointless props

I push them away, close the door.
I keep it locked
