As the title says - I’m so glad the heatwave has ended here. We had about a week of temperatures between 29°C and 35°C. Faaaaaaaaar too hot for me! Anything above 25°C and I sufffer.

When I was very little (about 5 or 6) I was at school and we had a swimming lesson. The pool had absolutely no shade and it was over 30°! The staff didn’t even provide sun cream, either. Needless to say, as a practically white haired kid, I got burned pretty badly and very had heat stroke. They had to call my mum who was (rather naturally) furious. She took me to my GP and he said that I had heatstroke and was quite badly dehydrated and that I needed to be submerged in cool water, kept in a dark room and I needed to drink as much water as my belly would allow.

I haven’t really gotten any better at handling the heat. I mean; now I -know- that I should put sun cream on, stay in the shade and drink plenty. But it exhausts my body so much. And it makes my Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) MUCH worse. Sometimes I can end up losing consciousness EVERY time I stand up! Which is exhausting in itself but even more so in the hot weather.

Nowadays I tend to hide away in my room with the fan directed right at me. I turn into a blob that rarely moves. Which is fine by me, really. But getting to the bathroom is a challenge! 😝

For those of you in the UK, I hope you’re all feeling better too! 😊
