I'm new here!

Hi, my name is mgerardt. I'm here because I’ve been on Prednisone for 3 months and am tapering off and I am worried about the potential for adrenal insufficiency.

Migraines, Life-Long (Suicidal) Depression, A Real Desire to be with my Lord and Saviour, More Debt than I can afford

Living with Life-Long Suicidal Depression since at least 4-years-old (mid 1970s); and Migraine Headaches that have been regular (at least 1 to 2 times a week [more weeks now are turning in to at least 2 days] since the mid 1990s) and many other health problems that are on and off weekly or monthly; Extra Debt that I was pressed in to; which can cause me to lose the house, SSDI so it is hard to earn extra money to get out of Debt; and with Life-Long Suicidal Depression, in addition to the Major Pains, I really have been desiring more to be able to go Home to be with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I would greatly appreciate any feed back.

What’s My Name Again?

The brain fog struggle is real! There are also those annoying moments when you find yourself describing what car keys do, but can’t actually recall the word ‘keys’ in the moment 🤪

Hedonism & Spoons

I tried a gentler yoga class this week at my local MS Centre. Even though it’s meant to accommodate wheelchair users, I told the instructor I was concerned about overdoing things. She told me to just do what I can and not push myself—which was sound advice. But, me being hedonistic me, I pushed myself too far anyway and now I’m paying for it with precious spoons.

I really used to love yoga when I was younger, which is why it’s difficult to hold back, but next week I’m limiting myself to floor work… just have to keep reminding myself that the road to wellness is a crawling marathon, and not a sprint.

I do find myself wishing in moments like these, that the people who suggest we try yoga could actually see us when the resulting Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM) makes it difficult just to get out of bed 😣

Letting go, getting time

It has been close to a year since I was officially diagnosed with Addison’s Disease. I’ve learned a lot about the disease, how it has affected-and will continue to affect-me, and what I need to do to manage life with that knowledge. One thing I have learned is that time is incredibly valuable.

Yesterday I further learned how to apply that in the often mundane activities of being an accountant. I felt empowered holding others accountable for their mistakes and giving them the opportunity to learn. Almost everyone received my various emails and phone calls positively.

It felt good to let things go. It felt better to know I have a good team working with me. #AddisonsDisease #AdrenalInsufficiency
