Self care awareness month

I’m really good at telling other people about the importance of self-care and I even run a membership focused on a creative outlet as a self-care activity that is soothing, and yet I’ve learned a few lessons about self care along the way.

I can get so wrapped up in work that I forget to take care of myself. I find it best to schedule time or I don’t do it. It doesn’t just magically happen. Scheduling is key.

So, I schedule time for a jog, for spa days, to breathe. Yes, I have an alarm on my phone to remind me to breathe every 15 minutes.

I schedule time for daily naps - yes, DAILY, and time to meditate before those naps, and time to use my own products. I keep coloring pages and colored pencils on my desk so I can take short 15 minute breaks throughout the day. Sometimes that’s all I need.

Sometimes I find that I’m coloring for an hour because time has just slipped away. And, that’s ok because obviously I needed that time.

Besides, who doesn’t want to color butterflies!?
