Which personal hygiene task will you continue prioritizing after this week? #52SmallThings

How did it go this week, Mighties? Were you able to focus a bit more on your personal hygiene routine? Maybe you flossed for the first time in a while or gathered the strength to take a quick shower. Whatever you were able to do (or had the intention to do), we’re proud of you. It can be difficult to take care of ourselves in the most basic ways when you live with a health condition or disability.

If you have a small goal for the coming weeks or months, we’d love to know which aspect of your personal hygiene routine you want to prioritize.

Which personal hygiene task(s) do you struggle with more than others? #52SmallThings

There is always going to be some tasks we can manage more easily than others, and that’s OK. Which personal hygiene task(s) do you have a harder time with? Maybe you find brushing your teeth twice a day or after every meal a challenge. Maybe showering regularly is a struggle. Or perhaps washing your face regularly is something that falls by the wayside.

Whatever it is, there is no shame in struggling with a hygiene task. This is 100% a judgment-free zone.

Bonus: Reply to a Mighty and cheer them on to let them know they can do it!

What’s a personal hygiene hack that’s helped you? #52SmallThings

Sometimes we have to get creative to get through challenging tasks, and personal hygiene is no exception to that. Maybe you buy the “fun” flavors to make brushing your teeth more enjoyable. Or maybe you keep “cleansing packs” with dry shampoo, cleansing wipes and deodorant with you to remind you to freshen up when a shower takes too much energy to do.

Whatever it is, share your best personal hygiene hacks that have helped you below. You never know, you may just help a fellow Mighty who is in need of a way to get through a tough hygiene task.

Washing hair with migraines

I was finally able to wash my hair. I can’t do it with an active migraine. Showering I can manage if I‘m not super dizzy. But washing my hair is like torture. #Migraine #PersonalHygiene

What do u do in order to keep clean if u r unable to shower on any given day because your energy reserves are very low or empty? #PersonalHygiene

I struggle to shower every day. I'm quite ashamed to admit this, but I know a lot of u will understand how this feels. My bad OCD is also another reason why showering is something I dread. The after shower lotioning, combing out my hair and then several strands falling out, no energy whatsoever, easily sweating. It literally feels like I've ran a marathon after taking one. Any suggestions on how u deal with your hygiene. Please b safe during these troubling times. We will beat this!!!!

Why is it so hard to shower?

What is it that makes showering/washing so hard? Do we secretly want to smell, to push people away? When I get to the point of awareness that I smell, i force myself to shower. But why does it take that much to get me there? Does being naked make me feel too vulnerable? Is it the cold I’m avoiding? I don’t actually want to be dirty and smelly. Who does? It’s hard to even write this admission. I feel ashamed and sad that I let my personal hygiene slip so far. #Depression #PTSD #PersonalHygiene
