Kitteh just gave me a smooch 😻

Niklas Squishy Kitteh is seriously an Emotional Therapy champion. For a number of days now I've been in a crapload of pain. First surgery is in early July, and he sticks to me like super glue. He's such a punkin.

Being sidelined from crafting prevents me from enhancing my mindfulness

At the end of Nov I was experiencing some brain fog, fell and injured my left wrist/hand while suffering another concussion. I've already had 3 MRIs on my wrist. The next one is Tues, but this time it'll be on my neck to see if there's a pinched nerve directly correlating to my wrist.

I'm trying to remain calm, thankful for the VA and all of the wonderful care I receive. It's just with this situation, the unavoidable delays can been a bit frustrating. What's really lousy is that at first I could cross stitch with my right hand, but now my eyes and head syndrome are worse so I'm hosed. 😫

It'll all be ok I'm sure. Grateful to be able to feel, and have this platform to learn and share with others.

Misconceptions Of Mental Illness Can Put Put The Public At Risk 🙄

Yesterday I responded to a post regarding Narcissism, as I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse (Hitchcock style, seriously). Over the past few yrs I've uncovered instances where individuals who have studied a particular illness extensively, claim with all certainty that they've thoroughly captured all of its aspects.

This is extremely hard to deal with, because often missing facts perpetuate social vulnerability. Why vulnenerability? Because predators hunt and potential victims can be better equipped for self-defense if they know what to watch out for.

Has anyone else has run into a similar situation for this or any other mental health illness(s)? Dr. Ousterhout, what type of mindfulness approach would you recommend in this type of situation? Any other thoughts you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Survivors Typically Develop A Unique Sense Of Humor

Sure, I can acclimate to various situations. However I'm guessing that like most of you with #TraumaticBrainInjury and #ComplexPosttraumaticStressDisorder my brain can come up with some spontaneous twisted funny stuff with a gentle dose of sarcasm that'll make me snort-laugh 5 minutes after I've let it out. I dunno, maybe it's my #ADHD 🐿 or all of these conditions wrapped into one oddly wrapped package of old comics. 😁 One thing's for sure, it's definitely not boring. 🫠

It's A True Blessing Being Able To Feel

I fully believe that everything happens for a reason. God's plan has been in place and the only modifier is our free will. Though my husband and I are both looking at forthcoming surgeries soon, we're so grateful to be able to feel. How glorious to be above ground to enjoy another day full of His blessings, and share our testimonies!

Wishing you all a day full of peace and fulfilling reflection in the Lord's healing word. 🕊📖💜

It doesn't matter which gate led you on your path through each challenge you've faced, or those which await. Know that you are already a warrior with a powerful testimony; if you're still on here, you're still self-advocating. If it's uncomfortable to feel positive for yourself that's ok, just don't fill yourself with negative. #TraumaticBrainInjury #ParoxysmalHemicrania #Fibromyalgia

Words Fail Me, Great Changes Await. Would Welcome Your Insight Please

Most of my posts are centered more around sharing a part of an issue I might be having, yet with an uplifting spin. Now though after weeks of numerous albeit appreciated Dr appts, I'm physically and a bit emotionally compromised.

🚨Possible Trigger Warning:
I just got some great news that I'll be able to receive Blepharoplasty and brow shelf lift surgery to help ease the effects from head injuries which I suffered 8 yrs ago due to an IPV-related assault. I'm still getting used to the idea that I've been graced with such a gift. For the couple of years after the incident it was nearly impossible for me to look in the mirror due to the disfigurement he caused, both physically and psychologically.

I've worked extremely hard at healing from all aspects of this part of my history. Now what I'm facing is rewiring my circuitry. I'll need to prepare what I hope will be for me, wonderful experiences in getting comfortable socially all over again. This is a daunting task, as one burdened with so many disabling challenges.

🤔 What are your thoughts on how I might focus in mindfulness and reintroducing myself into daily routines as essentially a new person? I know that I'll not be new on the inside, but my psyche will feel that way.

I remain consistent with other VA providers such as mental health therapy, and will be sharing this news with them. Until I can get in for an appt, I wanted to share to the group and seek helpful feedback as you feel comfortable.

Thanks and 🧠 Survive To Thrive 🕊
