Creepy crawlies under your skin??

For years I had the sensation of bugs crawling under my skin. I'd tell people and they'd say that I'd lost my mind or isn't that something crazy people have?! I tried so many lotions, oatmeal baths, you name it. It always happened at the same time of night. It wasn't every night so it always caught me off guard. The sit straight up out of your sleep off guard. One night it was so bad that I called the suicide hot line at 4 a.m. I just wanted it to stop, be over and I would have done anything for it to stop! The wonderful man I spoke with calmed me down and made me promise to call my primary doctor the next day.

I got an appointment and told my doctor my experience verbatim. I told him if he couldn't help me he'd likely never see me again. Thank God that I have a wonderful doctor. He said that I have formication and prescribed Doxepin at night. Later this started during the day as well and he prescribed Citalopram.

Formication is the sensation that bugs are crawling on or under your skin when they don't really exist. Causes include mental health conditions such as depression, medical conditions like Parkinson's disease, certain prescription medications, or drug use. The symptoms mirror many fibromyalgia symptoms.

I've noticed a few fellow members mention the feeling but never a diagnosis. Help is out there. Let your doctor know. I hope it works out for you too. 😁 #RareDisease #Fibromyalgia #Depression #Neuropathy #edema #formication #EssentialTremors #MyotoniaCongenita #MuscularDystrophy

Does anyone else deal with edema in their ankles/feet and if so, have you been simply told to "lose weight" by your doctor? #CheckInWithMe

I have #HypothyroidismUnderactiveThyroidDisease and probably some other #Undiagnosed #ChronicIllness and have in the past been treated for possible #AutoimmuneDisease (including having been on a med used to treat mild #Lupus or mild #RheumatoidArthritis ). I was wondering if any Mighties who experience chronic #edema in their ankles/feet, maybe have any of the above-listed conditions (or similar ones) and are also overweight, have been treated similarly by doctors? I'm curious about your thoughts. It's frustrating because I can't switch doctors... there aren't many who take my insurance nearby.

Multiple chronic and mental illnesses - Swollen Feet and Ankles

Decreased mobility in past couple years, but sharp decrease after moving into RV four months ago... sit all day on uncomfortable seat and don’t leave because it’s hard to get out/down the steps and various other reasons. My feet are huge and I assumed it was just weight gain like everywhere else... but it’s definitely swelling and now it’s getting uncomfortable and a little scary.

Any suggestions other than exercise because that’s not going to happen anytime soon. TIA

Hello! Intro from Jaybee

Hello This is Jaybee I just stumbled onto this pageand looks like I have found a hidden treasure of people I can relate to! I'll give you an idea about my health. I am a #breast cancer late stage #survivor with many side effects that did not end after 1 1/2 years on chemo I had a mastectomy and reconstruction and my lymph nodes removed from the area From my hair to my toes I have a list of problems brought on by high doses of chemo or by removal of #lymph nodes Without enough lymph nodes I swell every day from eyelids to uvala to feet toes thighs calves knees and belly, even armpits! (not all of them everyday or all at once) But every week all areas have swelled at least once My legs turned red while on chemo and got neuropathy they have stayed that way I have chronic pain everyday My ankles/tibia just above foot front on both feet feel like they are in a vice grip and the range of motion is limited I have #stenosis from the neck to the hips and at times this is excrutiating pain I had a steroid shot in Nov.. I have lots more going on; it's hard to remember them all.
