What If The Tables Were Turned? 🤔 #thoughtoftheday #DistractMe #MentalHealth

Have you ever pondered the notion that the lunatics are actually running the asylum? The asylum being the metaphorical World that we are living in. The division an segregation of countries is echoed by each of the different wards in this vast hospital spread across the grounds of Planet Earth? Admission to the asylum is simply granted by the act of expression. Uniqueness approved by the judgement of the regularity it’s observed. Cared for by the Doctors and their party of staff. The Parliamentary Heads of State. Heads of Mental States in this case. Fed a concoction of prescription medication and stigmatised for the privilege. Maybe we’re the normal ones. Does reality exist? What is reality? Are you living your life in your reality? If you’re medicated then you’re not going to be living in your reality. Have you ever stopped and thought about that? #Thoughtfortheday #DistractMe #BipolarDisorder

And Breathe 🌪 #Thoughtfortheday #BipolarDisorder

Tomorrow and plans for tomorrow can have no significance at all unless you are in full contact with the reality of the present.

Let’s suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream that you wanted to dream. And that you could, for example, have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time. Or any length of time you wanted to have. And you would, naturally as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure you could conceive. And after several nights of 75 years of total pleasure each, you would say “Well, that was pretty great.” But now let’s have a surprise. Let’s have a dream which isn’t under control. Where something is gonna happen to me that I don’t know what it’s going to be. And you would dig that and come out of that and say “Wow, that was a close shave, wasn’t it?” And then you would get more and more adventurous, and you would make further and further out gambles as to what you would dream. And finally, you would dream … where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today.

The real reason why human life can be so utterly exasperating and frustrating is not because there are facts called death, pain, fear, or hunger. The madness of the thing is that when such facts are present, we circle, buzz, writhe, and whirl, trying to get the “I” out of the experience. We pretend that we are amoebas, and try to protect ourselves from life by splitting in two. Sanity, wholeness, and integration lie in the realization that we are not divided, that man and his present experience are one, and that no separate “I” or mind can be found.

Many of our thoughts, habits and behaviors are passed down from our family, society and culture. Before we take ownership of certain traits and thoughts, let’s be mindful of what is really ‘ours’. We seldom realize, for example, that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.

Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations. To put this still more plainly: the desire for security and the feeling of insecurity are the same thing. To hold your breath is to lose your breath.

Part of man’s frustration is that he has become accustomed to expect language and thought to offer explanations which they cannot give.

Advice? I don’t have advice. Stop aspiring and start writing. If you’re writing, you’re a writer. Write like you’re a goddamn death row inmate and the governor is out of the country and there’s no chance for a pardon. Write like you’re clinging to the edge of a cliff, white knuckles, on your last breath, and please, for God’s sake, tell us something that will save us from ourselves. #IntrusiveThoughts

What Gives you JOY?

Hello! I hope everyone has a “happy” Saturday! Saying that, here is a thought to ponder...
There is so much talk about #Happiness and what makes one happy. “Happiness” is such a circumstantial emotion, don’t you think? 🧐
“I’m happy it’s Friday”, “I’m happy the food is here”, etc. Are we necessarily happy when our car breaks down or when we are “hangry”? 😩
No, of course not! God gave us DIFFERENT emotions for different circumstances! Even Christ wasn’t happy all the time. It’s ok to not be happy! It’s ok to grieve. It’s ok to be angry and hangry! 😉
It’s ok to be frustrated. It’s how one handles the emotion at hand that makes it right or wrong. ❤️
With that being said, JOY is something we can obtain and keep NO MATTER the circumstance! We can be joyful in any circumstance! What brings you JOY? .
