Finally an Answer #Lupus #newlydiagnosed

To introduce myself, hi, I’m Bri, I’m a grad student training to be an LPC and school counselor. Yesterday I finally got the answer to the chronic illnesses that I’ve had my whole life:
Lupus

I consider myself lucky because the antibodies in my blood work are not concerning so we caught this “early”. My body is tired and my mind is racing. My journey started with #ADHD , then #Endometriosis , then #ReynaudsPhenomenon , then #Depression , then #Anxiety , then #IrritableBowelSyndromeIBS , then #HypothyroidismUnderactiveThyroidDisease , but #Lupus has been the answer all along.

I don’t know if this is going to get any traction but my hope is to surround myself with people who can actually see and hear what I’m going through outside of the medical office.

Sijo micropoem

Jack Frost lunges at me, driving deep his icy dagger

Glacial flow engulfing, eroding muscle, bone and joint

My volatile body is not fond of winter's entourage

- Remy Soberanes

...

This style of micropoem / short poem is called a Sijo, a three-line poem that is believed to have first appeared in fourteenth-century Korea. Sijo poems follow a structure to Japanese haiku and tanka: three lines, each with about 14–16 syllables, for a total syllable count of 44–46.

How to manage pin prick sensation in hands? #Lupus #LupusWarrior #ReynaudsPhenomenon #Lupusflare

I recently have noticed that my hands will start to have a painful pin prick sensation, very much like a painful version of waking up a limb after it falls asleep. Does anyone know the cause or how to help reduce the pain? I can’t use ice packs as I have Reynauds.

Keeping those B cell down! #AutoimmuneDisease

Today I’m getting my Rituxan infusion. It takes 7 hours and keeps my B cells from maturing. This way I don’t fight my own body so hard. Isn’t it so wild that we are attacking ourselves? Seems like there are metaphors waiting to be harvested there....

Rainy days.... #ChronicPain #Arthritis #ReynaudsPhenomenon

It's cold and rainy here today and I feel like the tin man. I'm all stiff and in excruciating pain and my stomach is jacked up from exhaustion and a migraine. I had an EMG yesterday and worked a 13 hour day, which sent my pain levels soaring. I think blankie and I will chill. Some days you have to know when to say "when". #ChronicMigraines #autoimmunelife #ChronicFatigue #barometricpressure

Diagnosed last year

Not looking forward to the cold winter that's coming. Anyone have ideas on good gloves to wear for everyday use that allow you to still use your cell phone? My fingers spend most days freezing cold and void of color. Finger nails are grayed etc.
