    Vanquishing the Inner Critic

I call my inner critic Mrs. Rochester (from Jane Eyre) because she wants to burn it all down. After nearly two years of therapy and somatic experiencing, that cruel voice is finally fading. Gabor Maté's The Myth of Normal helped me put so much into perspective. Not just about complex trauma, but about how the world perpetuates it. Humanity has an astonishing capacity to normalize the worst—look no further than how people in positions of leadership decided COVID didn't poll well, so now we're ignoring it at the peril of our own lives in a mass-disabling event. As we kick of Mental Health Month in May, I look back on the crisis that led to my CPTSD diagnosis two years ago, and how much progress I've made since then. Grateful for all the resources that helped me be more even-keeled, though I'm a work in progress. But finally, some of those old ghosts are finally moving on, and Mrs. Rochester is a lot quieter these days.

Does your town have a Stigma Free Initiative?

Hello - Not sure if there are any other communities outside of NJ that have started a Stigma Free Initiative, but I wanted to see if we could form a connection.

I just built a website and would LOVE the feedback (even if you don't have a SF committee).

Give me introverted ways to celebrate my birthday. #Depression

My birthday is coming up this weekend and last year I cried and was depressed. I wanna avoid feeling that way again. What would you suggest a loner, with zero close friends and a need for a break from her husband and kids to do for her birthday? I would really like to just be by myself and left alone. I wanna enjoy my own company for my birthday. Please share your ideas with me. 🖤🧁

    #MentalHealthMonth #green RibbonsforAwareness

I just wanted to share this with my Mighty 💪 family & wish everyone a great mental health month! If we can raise more awareness than we can eventually get people to understand that we're not just some crazy lunatics that should be locked up! We're still good decent people for the most part & every time I come on this App I'm reminded of that! ✌️💚☯️💪🙋

I like what I see in the mirror...do you?
It's not my own reflection in this image, I have a few more wrinkles and crow's feet, and that's okay. I'm not 20 anymore. It took me years to be able to look myself in the mirror and say "I love you". Some days are easier than others, but you are deserving of love and being loved. The first step is loving yourself, even if you currently feel you can't. It took me 2 years to look myself in the eye and feel worthy. It might take you ten years or 2 months, but today is the day to start loving your amazing self!
