Texas Social Workers Can Now Turn Away LGBTQ+ Citizens And Disabled Citizens!!! Disgusting!!!

"Texas social workers can now turn away LGBTQ clients and those with a disability.

The state Board of Social Work Examiners voted unanimously to change a section of its code of conduct last week following a recommendation from Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, to remove protections for sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. Abbott’s office said the change was suggested because the board’s nondiscrimination clause went beyond the state’s policy on social work, according to The Associated Press." (Courtesy NBC)

What is this world coming to?!? Middle of a Pandemic no less. What social worker and a board of all things would do this? Each member of that board should be barred from ever practicing in any other state ever again! #Discrimination #LGBTQ #Disability #SocialWorkers #News #COVID19

presentation question

I am preparing for a presentation on #Veterans. The presentation is geared towards #SocialWorkers #counselors and other #MentalHealth providers. If you are a #Veteran what do you wish civilian clinicians knew prior to your first session? If you are a mental health provider, what do you wish you knew about the military?

I’m terrified of this nightmare coming true #PTSD

I had a nightmare that I just woke up from in which I became an alcoholic. Both of my parents are alcoholic/addicts, and I’m scared that I will become like them.

As a social worker, I know I hold addiction very close to me. I want to help addicts in whatever they need. People with addiction still deserve food, shelter, and love, without having to be sober. If I were to become an alcoholic, however, I would see myself as more worthless than I already do.

I just want to succeed at my goals, but the thought of becoming an alcoholic/addict is always looming. #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder #PTSD #AbuseSurvivors #Alcoholism #Addiction #SocialWorkers

I feel paralyzed by all the pain in the world, helplessly wishing there was more I could do. Being a social worker is hard. Having CPTSD is hard. #SocialWorkers #CPTSD #PTSD #Depression #Anxiety

Love Yourself

“Love yourself so that you can love the world you wish to change. When you learn to do this, then you will make the difference you want to see.”
