#WednesdayWisdom - Self Validation

Validation helps us feel less crazy. It helps process our experiences better. When we can’t get them from family and friends we go downs paths seeking others for validation. Sometimes those paths lead us to those who manipulate or dismiss our experiences. This is where our self validation has to be stronger than our desire to be externally validated; in return we protect our experiences and our triumphs from those who mishandle us. This practice opens up frees up our minds to cultivate healthier connections.

(Twitter is for the shits and giggles but sometimes it makes sense 😇)

Let's Talk Depression - Wednesday Wisdom 🙏

Wednesday Wisdom - Have 10 minutes? Try this out!

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for ten minutes.”

Sometimes, we need to unplug ourselves, too! Recharge the batteries, quiet the mind and take a few minutes just for ourselves.

If you have ten minutes to spare, find a quiet space to sit or lie down (if comfortable). Close your eyes, and just try to calm your mind for a few moments. If any thoughts keep coming up, acknowledge them and place them to the side.Return your concentration to keeping that feeling of being unplugged.

If you try this exercise, please share your experience in the comments below! 👇

Wednesday Wisdom - “If opportunity does not knock, build a door.”

In one sentence, what can you do today that will help new opportunities find you? What action (no matter how big or small) can you take to help open your world to new possibilities?

Share your sentence below!

I’ll go first: I'll start a conversation with a random person!

What can you say “no” to today?

Maybe your energy is low and you decide the dishes can wait until tomorrow. Perhaps you don’t need to text the person back who always leaves you feeling drained after conversations. Or maybe you simply need a break from a responsibility that’s been weighing heavy on you. Whatever the case may be, let’s honor our needs today by using this short but powerful sentence: “No.” 🗣

Write a one-sentence letter to your younger self. 💌

What would you tell younger you? 💭 Maybe you’d give a bit of advice about how to sit with struggle, or perhaps you’d remind yourself that it’s OK to traverse life on your own timeline.

While we don’t get to turn back the clock, it can be a good exercise to reflect on how much we’ve learned. Who knows, you may even find some much-needed wisdom from your fellow Mighties in the comments.💫

My typical response to “How are you?” is...

How would you finish this sentence? Maybe you’re an “I’m fine” or an “I’m good” person, or perhaps you usually respond with, “I’m hanging in there!” (One of our personal favorites. 😉)

However you typically answer, we recognize how tough this seemingly innocent question can be. But here at The Mighty, we always want to know how you REALLY are. We promise. 💪

What about adulthood has caught you completely off guard? 😳

Maybe it's a responsibility you didn't feel prepared you for. Maybe it's an event that took place in recent years that changed how you view the world. Or perhaps you thrive with the independence that comes with age.

Whatever the case may be, tell us what part of adulthood you weren't quite expecting.

There’s a quote I read recently that when I saw this, it I instantly recognize a connection and wanted to share :

“God humbles those he loves..”

Yesterday I had a little attack at work. Mix of pins and needles and numbness and tingles throughout my body, mostly my legs while I was sitting at my desk at work. Then again last night before falling asleep. while I know I’ll continue to feel more throughout the day, just like every day for the last year, it’s important to realize how humbled this has all made me. Pain sucks. This condition I’m in - we’re in - sucks. But I’d like to think it’s teaching us something.

What would the first line of the most recent chapter of your life be? 📖

Maybe the most recent chapter of your life story is marked by the pandemic, a new diagnosis or an event you weren't expecting. Whatever the case may be, share the sentence that captures the start of the season you're currently in.✒️

📍Here’s ours: This is not where we thought we’d be right now, but we are made less alone by the support of others.
