Please don’t tell me...

Sometimes well-meaning phrases like “stay positive,” “feel better soon” or “but you don’t seem sick” can be incredibly invalidating. That’s why we want to know what messages you wish others would stop saying so we all know how to better support each other. 💬

⭐️ Bonus points if you tell us a phrase you’d actually like to hear.

Choosing Happiness

I have a problem when people say you have the power to choose to be happy instead of allowing depression to do what it does...I understand why people say it though. They say this because they don't really understand brain chemistry or depression. They're saying this because they saw one of those "motivational gurus" on youtube or saw an Instagram post about optimism vs pessimism. They're saying it because its easier than trying to understand what and mental illness really is and how to actually help someone. But what can we do about that?

Fatigue vs Tired, a note for the average joe.

Anyone else hate it when your a-typical, healthy friends/relatives that respond to your complaints of being exhausted with, “I’m tired too” or “we all get exhausted” NO. NO YOU DON’T. It is not the same. When you have people in your life with invisible illnesses that include chronic fatigue it is not the same. Run a marathon 2 days in a row on no sleep then come back to me! #ChronicFatigue #Fatigue #Itsnotthesame #whatnottosay #exhaustion #Truefatigue
