Mistakes are not proof that you are broken.

A lot of people carry old mistakes as if they are permanent definitions of who they are. But mistakes are one of the main ways we learn, grow, mature, and gain self-awareness. The goal is not to become someone who never fails. The goal is to become someone who can reflect, learn from difficult moments, forgive themselves, and continue moving forward with more wisdom. Healing often begins when you stop using your past as evidence against your future.

What is one mistake that ultimately taught you something valuable about yourself?

Also, if you're going through a tough time right now, I want you to know that I post daily mental health videos about how to deal with painful thoughts. So if you or anyone you know is struggling and wants help, click on one of the links below or write me if you have any questions you want me to answer:

Finish this sentence: I find it hard to be alone with my thoughts when…

Being alone with your thoughts can be an overwhelming sensation at times — especially in those moments when distractions are at an all-time high, or processing them doesn’t feel super safe or accessible. Whether it be due to a health condition, external circumstances, or all of the above, having a way to get through those tough moments is important.

Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks finds it hardest to be alone with her thoughts when she’s having limiting beliefs and things around her don’t seem like they would change. Journaling is important to her because it allows her to explore the things she can do for herself that can help her find a sense of relief.

When do you find it hardest to be alone with your thoughts? What are some things you do or can do that would be helpful in processing those thoughts?

TRUE or FALSE: Journaling helps my mental health.

🫰And just like that… we’re already starting a new self-care challenge! This week’s prompts will be all about journaling. ✍️

Whether it’s with pen and loose paper, on a notes/journaling app, in a Word or Google doc, or drawing or doodling in a pretty notebook — there are many different ways you can journal.

Some may find journaling especially helpful in processing their thoughts and emotions, but this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Since all brains are different, you may actually find it to be a chore or challenging to keep up with!

What is your experience? Do you find journaling helpful for your mental, or even your physical, health?

How to Get Through Hard Times

One of the reasons people become overwhelmed during depression, recovery, grief, addiction, or difficult life situations is because the mind tries to carry the entire future all at once. Thinking “I have to survive this forever” can feel impossible. But when you break life down into smaller pieces, things become manageable. One day. One hour. One step. Sometimes even one breath at a time. Progress is often less about huge breakthroughs and more about continuing to move forward in small moments consistently over time.

What is something difficult you got through by taking it one step at a time?

List 3 of your go-to hygiene hacks.

Hygiene shortcuts can be a lifesaver, especially in those moments when we want to quickly and efficiently get our needs met without expending all of our energy. These shortcuts can look like creating schedules and reminders, as well as knowing what kinds of products to use that make hygiene more accessible (dry shampoo, anyone?).

Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks hacks include listening to music while she’s in the shower to motivate her and wake her up in the morning, scheduling less work to get done on her hair-washing days so she has more energy, and buying her toiletries and personal care products in bulk so she doesn’t have to worry about them running out quickly.
