525,600 Minutes

How do you measure your life?

Every 40 seconds we lose a loved one to suicide.

Every 40 seconds we lose a loved one and it is one too many.

September is #SuicideAwareness month. And #MentalHealth plays a huge role in this. #Depression does not discriminate against men, women, age, ethnicity, race, economic status. #Anxiety does not care about what car you drive or what religion you believe.

#MentalHealth needs to be addressed and needs to be talked about. Depression thrives in solitude. So speak out, reach out, and love one another fearlessly.

Every 40 seconds we lose someone to suicide.

Suicide is prevention is everyone’s business, so make it yours.

There’s only so much time in the world. 525,600 minutes in a year. Measure YOUR life in love. You could save a life.

Please know, you are not a burden. You are not alone. The world is NOT better without you. Please stay alive. #Bipolar1 #BipolarDepression

I love you, and I’ll see you soon 🧡

a friend in the need of some support

I stumbled across this young man's YouTube video about losing his mom to suicide and feeling guilty by not speaking to her and seeing the signs. I looked at some of his other mental health videos and he is often attacked and being called gay and I found his fb and many people attack him for his mother's death. So I figured I'd post on her to get this young man some love and support.

Just got out

I have been in a mental facility for the last 5 days. I feel so much happier and healthier. Walked a mile today with one of my brothers. I'm a little scared about being back home. #SuicideAwareness

You Never Know ….. #MightyPoets

You never know what other people see,
When you give time to another human being.

You never know what other people hear,
When you whisper “You’re amazing” in their ear.

You never know what other people think,
When you’re with a friend and abstain from a drink.

You never know what other people dream,
When your smile turns their frown into a gleam.

You never know what other people say,
When you dispense of how your pain melted away.

You never know how others too might act,
When you tell how the wrong way brought you back.

You never know how many tears you’ll bring,
When speaking of those who make your heart sing.

You never know beliefs you just might shape,
By ripping off what’s held your soul in place.

You never know whose life you saved tonight,
By listing tips that helped you quit a vice.

You never know how far your love will grow,
Till you share who taught you “let it go”.

Cause you never know who God has put in place,
Or whose story might be their saving grace.

You see, it’s not about how many likes you get,
Due to this thing we call the domino effect

And if just one person takes in what you say,
You never know how many hearts He’ll change.

It’s those dots we keep trying to connect,
Which are already laid out in retrospect.

For in God’s plan He’s the only one who sees,
Each “You never know” played out just perfectly.

So do not second guess of what you share,
Cause you never know which dots it’s meant to pair.

Repost: I wanted to die

This is a repost of my letter to my twelve year-old self when I was in deep depression and suicidal. I hope this letter can help others. May is mental health awareness month.
#SuicideAwareness #MentalHealth #Depression #Teen

Dear Audrey,

This letter is a long time coming, a long time of struggle and success, of unrequited love and true love. Of discovery and longing and contempt. Of happiness and sadness. But you make it and you overcome all obstacles. And now all that's left is a letter between good friends.

Audrey, I wish I could have been there with you and guided you through it all. I wish I could have been your voice of reason and the hand that stopped you even before that morning dawned. I would have told you about all the wonderful things you are capable of and how many faces smile because of you. I would have shown you that you were not and are not alone. That the sadness subsides, always subsides and happiness is a closer friend. That the bullying wasn't forever and that life gets better. Life has a funny way of laughing when we're down, but we don't give in, we grab it by the scruff of its neck and scream. Because we are worth more.

Little Audrey, this letter comes to you during a strange time when you are experiencing new thoughts and feelings. Everything is twisted and on its head, you are hearing voices, but you can't let the voices win. That's the Bipolar talking and that is one nasty bitch. If it was up to it you'd be dead thinking that you spared your family a burden. When in actuality you would be breaking them.

So stay strong little Audrey, you are destined for great things and no sadness is permanent, no misery worth the power you give it. We are all in this together.

All our love,

Audrey

What if it's my fault? TW

What if her suicide was my fault? I mean before she did it we had an argument. The last thing I heard from her was this "If I kill myself one day it'll be your fault". I loved her like a sister... She's gone now. Is it my fault? It feels like it is my therapist is saying it isn't my parents say it isn't. I don't know what to believe. I just want her back so I can explain and make things better 😔 She was such a good friend...

Hitting the 11th year

In just ten days it will be 11 years since I lost my only brother to suicide. A decade felt solid, 11 years makes me feel less sure footed and ungrounded. This journey of navigating grief is hard. On the decade mark we dedicated a bench in a local park. I am at a loss for what to do as we get further and further away from that painful day. Would love to know what has helped others mark anniversaries. #MentalHealth #SuicideAwareness
