Share a positive experience of when you asked for help and received it.

Sometimes we just need to hear some happy stories, so let’s share a few of the positive experiences we’ve had when it comes to reaching out for help and actually receiving it.

Following an unpleasant experience in college, Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks started therapy in 2019 after not seeking help for her mental health for over three years. She was really happy she made the step to ask for help because she then found a really kind and empathetic therapist in return!

Note: It’s totally OK if you feel you haven’t received the help you deserve and needed in the past. We’re here with you and extend our support in any capacity we can. 🌟

Your past may have shaped you, but it doesn’t have the right to limit you.

When you’ve lived through pain, your mind can get stuck replaying old moments.

Old mistakes.

Old losses.

Old identities.

Depression often pulls you backward, convincing you that the past defines you — that what happened then is who you still are now.

But the past only has power when we keep feeding it.

When we carry yesterday’s wounds into today, we block ourselves from healing, from opportunity, from becoming someone new.

Let the past be a chapter, not a prison.

You deserve a life that isn’t decided by old pain, old stories, or old versions of you.

Today isn’t asking you to rewrite everything.

It’s simply asking you to show up.

To breathe.

To take one step forward — no matter how small.

Your future isn’t built from what happened yesterday.

It starts with what you choose right now.

What small choice will you make today that your future self will thank you for?

Also, if you're going through a tough time right now, I want you to know that I post daily mental health videos about how to deal with painful thoughts. TRUE or FALSE: It’s easier for me to help others than to ask others for help.

In the poll we asked earlier in the week, 58% of the group said that you ask for help sometimes but would rather do things on your own and 25% said that you only ask for help when it's an emergency, so we’re curious what your experience is when helping others. Do you find it easier? How come?

P.S. We’ve heard so many community members share that they enjoy helping out those around them, especially those on The Mighty who are struggling. We applaud and commend all who have made The Mighty what it is today.🏅

What’s something you’re appreciative or grateful for experiencing this year?

Whether it’s a valuable lesson learned, a boundary firmly in place, the end of a cycle, time spent with loved ones, an outdoor activity, a resource or diagnosis that’s been life-changing, progress where you once felt stuck, a completed project (or one still in progress), or simply making it to this very moment — what’s something you’re grateful for experiencing this year?

♥️ It’s been a long one, Mighty fam, but as we near November, we’re especially grateful for you and this community.

What advice would you give to someone who finds it challenging to reach out for support when they need it?

For some, reaching out for help and support can be really challenging and even exhausting sometimes, especially if they're used to relying on only themselves. We totally get that!

What advice would you give to someone who experiences that challenge, but wants to seek support from others?

Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks shared that it took her years to ask for help and found it really challenging to open up to others. Although it took her awhile, practicing smaller gestures — like asking her mom for water when anxious or to go on a walk with her — allowed Nina to gather up the courage that made asking for support a more regular habit.

🌿 How to make healing feel less overwhelming

When you’re struggling, it’s easy to look at how far you have to go — and it feels impossible.
You start thinking about all the habits you need to build, all the pain you have to heal, all the changes you should make.

But recovery doesn’t happen all at once.

It happens one moment at a time.

One breath.

One small act of courage.

One tiny choice to keep going.

No matter how long your journey seems, this moment — right now — is the only one that truly matters.
And if you can take care of this moment, the rest will take care of itself.

👉 What’s one small step you can take right now to move forward?
