Introduce yourself and why you joined The Mighty!

Happy Monday, Mighties!

New week, new self-care theme: identity. Let's start off this week's challenge with a get-to-know-you exercise. 😊

In the comments below, share a little bit about yourself and why you joined The Mighty. 💖

Here is Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks Mighty intro:

Hi! My name is Nina. I'm a mental health advocate, creative, and I love to write and reflect, especially on my blog where I share my mental health journey. I'm the community manager and lead content creator here on The Mighty. I joined The Mighty back in 2016/2017 after I graduated college and was struggling to manage my depression, anxiety, and PTSD. The Mighty not only helped me to find my voice, but it also helped me find a community of support when I felt most alone and I'm tremendously grateful.

A year of color in review

Nature never ceases to amaze me and this year we were lucky to have the most colorful patio to enjoy. I do repeat sometimes with my posts but this time I chose the ones that stood out. Mom and I really enjoy this healthy distraction together which makes it even more special. #DegenerativeDiscDisease #ChronicPain #MuscularDystrophy #RareDisease #Fibromyalgia #CervicalRadiculopathy #Diabetes #Disability #Depression

When you talk about what nourishes you, your mind learns where safety lives.

Many of us bond through talking about stress, frustration, and problems, but constantly rehearsing pain can quietly keep it active in the mind. Shifting some attention toward moments of joy does not ignore reality, it balances it. When you intentionally speak about what brings you calm or satisfaction, your nervous system begins to register safety again. This small change in focus can support emotional healing and mental clarity over time. What is one simple joy you could talk about today instead?

Also, if you're going through a tough time right now, I want you to know that I post daily mental health videos about how to deal with painful thoughts. So if you or anyone you know is struggling and wants help, click on one of the links below or write me if you have any questions you want me to answer

How do you cope with health-related stress?

Happy Friday, Mighties! 💎

All the responsibilities, tasks, and demands that come with managing, understanding, and living with health conditions or disabilities can be stressful. From doctor visits and appointment planning to waiting for and understanding lab and test results; from navigating uncertainty to tracking new or ongoing symptoms and medications; from advocating for yourself to learning new ways to build habits that support your needs — it can all feel overwhelming at times.

We’re right here with you in that process and on that journey. 🙋‍♀️

What are some ways you cope with health-related stress? What do you find most helpful for balancing, organizing, and prioritizing your health responsibilities? And what tips would you share with someone who’s new to or still figuring out their journey?

What’s something memorable that’s happened to you so far this year?

Can you believe it, Mighties?! We’ve already gotten through the first month of the new year—time is really flying.

Let’s end this week’s self-care reflection theme with something memorable that’s happened for each of us so far in January.

Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks had a really rough start to the year, but she’s proud of herself for staying true to her recovery and continuing to share her creativity, story, and vulnerability here on The Mighty and in other community spaces. 🕊️

What about you?

If you could relive an experience in your life, what would it be?

Mighties, let's reflect and share some impactful experiences we wouldn't mind reliving.

Mighty staffer @sparklywartanks says she wouldn't mind reliving when she hosted her first mental health open mic event. She was so proud of herself!

How does shame impact your perspective on hope and growth?

Experiencing shame can affect many—sometimes unexpected—aspects of our lives, from existing and new relationships to how we navigate work or school, and even how we form ideas around purpose, growth, and hope.

I’ve become more aware of how much the shame I carry impacts my relationships, but I’m now realizing how much it also shapes my sense of hope and possibility. At times, I limit my own view of hope because I believe my options or opportunities are limited. This is something I want to work on much more intentionally in therapy this year.

Does shame impact how you perceive hope and growth? If so, how? In what ways might you shift or expand your perspective?

Sending love today—simply because you deserve it. 💌
