The System is Ineffeciently Stupid

1. Tried a therapist for the first time a few weeks ago. The system chose a therapist that will be a good match (It was the only one I could pick from). The therapist missed the appointment. (I’m cool with that, we’re all human 😅)….but then procedeed to tell me she didn’t specialize in crisis response (maybe that’s why I got trained in it)…and to find another therapist. I told her that’s fair but the system won’t let me choose another. I canceled because it was getting too much work….or rather I asked to cancel and it took 4-5 weeks of back and forth to cancel.

2. I shared my desire for an at-home visit to at least get the ball rolling.(Virtual ones can’t handle me 😅) because there’s only one car in the household and going to all the appointments would be taxing and complicated. This was ignored. Got a second message asking me to set up a virtual appointment after in-home visits were in my area but not licensed for this zip code

There’s plenty more….but this is enough. 🙄😅🤣

There is too much advocacy and lobbying in “health care”(including mental health) and not enough action to reform

PS I need another poster telling me “it’s ok for men to ask for help” when that “help” is messed up and subject to claims,, etc.

Vent on fears, depression, shame #Fear #Depression #Shame #Cancer #HealthCare #money #Aging

Trying to sleep Friday night on the couch so I can cry. worried my body is failing and so is my cancer treatment. Muscles and joints are stiff. Feel like ive aged10 years in last 6 months. Tired, mentally and physically. If I keep going until AprilI am told I can retire with full medicl benefits. Supposedly. I do not trust HR or my retirement management group. I fear my job, medical plan, and health, all ending within the first 6 months of 2024

I am going to try and sleep.

Wellness Wednesday: Questions to Ask Your Doctor

Asking questions during a doctor's appointment is crucial for maintaining good health.

It helps understand your health and medical conditions, provides information on medical terminology, and makes informed decisions. It also makes you feel more comfortable and confident in your healthcare journey.

Asking questions also helps provide personalized care by tailoring recommendations and treatment plans to meet individual needs. Additionally, asking questions helps avoid misunderstandings and miscommunications by ensuring you fully understand your doctor's instructions.

Here’s a great resource about exercising your right to ask questions and the type of questions you should ask your doctor:

Motivational Monday: Give Yourself Grace

Living with a chronic illness can be difficult, but by giving yourself grace, practicing self-care, accepting help, and recognizing your worth, you can move through it with strength and resilience. Be kind to yourself and recognize that progress is worth celebrating. Take time for yourself and accept help from others. Recognize that your illness is not a reflection of who you are.
