I started adulthood newly disabled. I was accepted to Medical School 15 years before the ADA. My leg was deformed 39 years ago. Four years ago after finding a surgeon who agreed my life would be better without it, my leg was amputated.
Today I am both a psychotherapist and a health educator and do work with children with trauma. My prosthetic leg makes me more approachable and helps kids feel safe with me. They know I understand pain.
I do not have a superhero name and most of the people just call me Cathryn. That is except my brother in law, he calls me Ana Strong. I think it fits.
