What are your go-to self-care activities?

What are your go-to self-care activities? Mine are my mental health app, journaling, therapy, medication, self-advocacy, and sometimes it's taking a day and doing absolutely nothing. Why is making time for self-care important.

Self-care can be anything from taking a walk or indulging in a complex routine involving mindfulness practices and therapy; self-care is about finding what resonates with you. It's about understanding your needs and honoring them without guilt. Self-care is a lifeline in a person's recovery or mental health journey, offering moments of solace and rejuvenation, especially when it comes to our mental health.

Why? Therapy, taking medication if necessary, setting boundaries, and practicing self-compassion are all integral parts of our journey. So is prioritizing our mental well-being and it's not selfish but rather a courageous act of self-love. Every step taken towards understanding and nurturing one's mental health is worthy of celebration, devoid of any societal stigma or internalized judgment.

I also want you to to remember that self-care is a journey, and it’s okay to not always have a clear plan. Exploring different activities and finding what works best for you takes time and patience. 😂😂😂 this is definitely the reality when suffering with chronic pain , anxiety ,depression ,fatigue ,physical pain or just mentally struggling.
When you feel like you need a rest after just taking a shower because your so drained .....

It's the little things that seem so simple to others that can really take so much working upto actually doing & then struggling so much after doing it .

I am really struggling with getting used to the NEW me ! The reality if chronic pain & illness & struggling with the fact I am no longer rthe person I was before. I am no longer able to make plans in advance as I really do not know which way I will be when I wake up.Between the constant pain ,the fatigue,anxiety,restlessness,feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and trying to just get through a day it's just impossible. I no longer put pressure on myself for being unable to do this or feel guilty as I have enough going on without constantly putting myself down over things I CANT control.I am struggling at times though feeling frustrated that when I do things even someday just walking around the house or garden a little more I make my pain so much worse and with having this infection now over 3 months someday walking is just unbearable!!

I am struggling but I will keep trying and trying to be kind to myself and proud of myself if all I did was make it through another day 👌😊

-The first antidote reminds me of what I learnt in Mental Health course: Motivational interviewing - Miracle question

-The second last antidote you may have heard about Progressive Muscle Relaxation or also abbreviated as PMR - I have personally found this helpful and to add to this full body scan.

How I'm feeling, crappy and disheartened

Quality over quantity
From now on, push aside the negativity energy and choose wisely. Is it worth the time, energy or effort to think about why.

I realise during this time the holidays are not always as festive and bright for others.
For every loss, there is something to learn from. An opportunity to reflect. Take courage and look ahead for the chance to grow. Life itself is a challenge and struggle. Here's hoping and wishing you will find peace and comfort in due time.
