I really hate my crappy immune system.

So, for years now my immune system has been awful. My doctor says it’s because of the variety of health issues I have. A heart condition, liver disease, kidney damage, enlarged spleen, diabetes, etc… When the pandemic started, I was told by every single doctor that I am at “extreme risk”. Tomorrow I’ll be having my 5th vaccine. I’m not looking forward to it.

Anyway, since my nephew was born nearly a year ago, I seem to be catching ever bug, virus on infection that’s going around. I’m always careful - I wear a mask where I can, I wash my hands many many times in a day, I use hand sanitizer, and I still do social distancing.

Last December I had a nasty cold that took nearly two weeks to go. Then in February I caught another one that knocked me on my ass. In May, my nephew passed on a particularly nasty/severe stomach bug that landed me in hospital. Five weeks ago I had ANOTHER cold… And now…? My baby nephew has passed on Bronchitis to me. I’m so exhausted. I haven’t felt this rough in a very long time. Before you ask, yes, I’ve done COVID tests. I’m negative.

My fever keeps going up and down, with the highest being 39.9°C. I saw a doctor today, who said my lungs sound like Rice Krispies, what with how much they’re crackling and popping. I’ve been given antibiotics and two different inhalers today, since I keep coughing so bad I end up choking.

Is there a way to improve my immune system? I can’t exactly get mad at a one year old baby. He really loves to play with me (mainly because no one else does - not even my sister), so I absolutely hate it when I have to stop because I’m in pain with my other conditions or feeling too unwell. I put him above everything else. I just want to try and find a way where he won’t get me sick all the time.

Any advice you have would be GREATLY appreciated. And thank you all in advance.

Antimaskers at work!

I am required to do manual labor, despite having arthritis, fibromyalgia, and CFS. This is already doing a lot of harm (my threshold of tolerance for my CFS symptoms is going down rapidly!). But my immune system is also very bad, and nobody wears masks! A while ago, covid went around the workplace, and I was lucky to probably avoid it, but I won't be so lucky next time I'm sure.

Does anyone have any advice? I'm terrified. #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #Fibromyalgia #PsoriaticArthritis #Immunocompromised

How to be Covid safe when immunocompromised?

Hey, my sister has arthritis and her doctor said to take medication that makes her immunocompromised. She’s super worried about getting Covid but doesn’t know how careful she needs to be.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Do you need to avoid people completely?

She can’t contact her doctor until her next appointment in 3 months…

Fatigue: it's going to be a loooong day

Oh dear. I've put my main medication, adalimumab, on hold as I started getting a sore throat last week and possibly going down with something. Adalimumab is an immune suppressant and my rheumatologist says to stop taking it if ill. I was due adalimumab on Friday (it's taken fortnightly). Well I had an awful night last night: woke up in pain twice (at 2330 and again at 0300) and had to get up and get ice, take meds and move about/stretch/massage both times. I also think I had an IBS attack and migraine the first time too 🥴 Today my work consists of reading and understanding a specification and I'm tired and fatigued. Let's just say that's not going to go so well. Its 11am and I just had my first fatigue crash of the day: lying on the floor unable to move while my body reboots. It's going to be a long long day and an even longer week 😴

Third Dose Booked Today #COVID19 #Immunocompromised

💉 if you can get vaccinated, get vaccinated. Not all of us can make the antibodies due to the treatments we’re on so we’re counting on you to keep us safe. Yes the vaccination doesn’t guarantee you won’t get Covid but it lowers the bio load of the virus in your body. So when you sneeze instead of unleashing the army you only release some soldiers from reserves; Instead of the entire national defence haha. (Bit of my history I’ve had two PE’s (Pulmonary Embolism - blood clots in lungs 2014), have a lymphatic disease and potentially an undiagnosed autoimmune disease. I’ve had minimal to zero side effects from the two vaccinations I’ve received previously (Pfizer). I took Tylenol following my injections in 4hr increments for the first couple days and believe this help prevent/alleviate any side effects). Choice is yours, always loved.

Let’s get through this, let’s protect each other 💪

People who don’t believe Masks/Vaccine

Sorry for the vent that’s about to come unfortunately this community is about the only thing I have to talk to and to understand me most days.
When I got sick my friends and family slowly disappeared. Then you had the years before Biden.
I think it was difficult to keep our political opinions quiet. I lost friends and family members well you can’t lose them (unfortunately) but ug you just avoid those conversations and them as much as possible. Now it’s Covid, mask mandates and the Vaccine.
Reason for this rant. I have family members who don’t believe in wearing masks. I have relatives and friends who don’t want to take the vaccine.
I am immunocopromised. So it makes me angry, really angry.
They also have children, they as parents don’t believe in wearing masks so then the children follow and do the same as the parents. So if the children g-d forbid got Covid it’s on the parents. Ignorance. Smh.
So now as much as I love my nieces and nephews I have to avoid seeing them and any family member who doesn’t wear a mask. I already felt quarantined in my life when I got sick. Now I feel I am further isolating myself. Anyone else having these issues with family? #COVID19 #mask #Immunocompromised #quarantined #Vaccine #RheumatoidArthritis #Fibromyalgia #ChronicIllness

Covid Positive

Hi Mighties, I just got a routine covid test yesterday because I'm having a C-section on Friday. It came back positive completely unexpectedly. My husband and I both got our second shots of Moderna a month ago and we're still very careful about what we do and where we go. I have no idea how I was exposed. I have Crohn's Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Asthma, SVT, and EDS. I am immunocompromised. So I know I may not have mounted as strong of a response as others. I'm just really worried and scared. This isn't how I wanted to welcome our little one into the world. I don't have any symptoms. So I'm really hoping I won't have any, but I'm still terrified because I've been told this entire pandemic that I'm high risk for complications. I'm not sure what I'm looking for here. Maybe some reassurance that it'll all be OK and/or experiences from anyone who has gone through the same thing. No anti-vaxxers or false/misleading information please. #COVID19 #Pregnancy #pregnantcoronavirus #CrohnsDisease #InflammatoryBowelDiseaseIBD #RheumatoidArthritis #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #SupraventricularTachycardia #Asthma #RareDisease #Immunocompromised
