    Work uses every spoon 😣

I work four 8 hour days a week. My job uses all of my spoons for the day. Anyone else deal with this? I literally get nothing else done because I can’t and then I play catch up on the weekend. How do y’all deal with it? #SpoonTheory #Sarcoidosis #PolycysticOvarySyndrome #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #HypothyroidismUnderactiveThyroidDisease #Depression #Anxiety

    🤔 Why can’t they just agree?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m pretty sure that anyone living with chronic pain/health issues will have heard the phrase “You need to listen to your body.” I know that I’ve heard it more times than I can count, and I suspect that I’m not the only one who has lost count of how many times they’ve heard it over the years. In theory, it sounds simple enough - do what your body tells you to do, when your body tells you to do it - but, in reality, it’s no where near as easy as it seems because trying to get your brain to agree with your body can be quite the challenge. It’s like your brain says “Let’s do this…” or “Let’s do that”, while your body says “There’s no way I’m doing that! I’m way too sore/exhausted to be doing anything.” It’s like trying to referee a debate that only you can hear. Wouldn’t it be great if the two could just get along with each other every once in a while? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔🤗😂

Are there physiological changes that occur in brains as a result of trauma?

I’m struggling a lot with cognitive tasks since I experienced trauma (I have not had a head injury.)
As someone who is well versed in cognition, memory, learning, brain functioning, etc. (I am a school psychologist) I know what “normal range of ability” is. And I feel like I previously was within that range. I am struggling to communicate my thoughts, to think clearly, to organize my brain, to make choices, to maintain concentration, to read, to prioritize, to organize my physical environment, to process stimuli, etc. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone have any resources regarding this topic? Or any tips or tricks to help with these cognitive challenges? #CPTSD #PTSD #PTSDSupportAndRecovery #BrainFog #SpoonTheory #Trauma

    pain is like scalding water

over the last few months i have been very busy with school. during this time i had a lot to think over and one of the most asked questions or statements i get on my groups is how do we let the doctor know how much pain i am in if each persons pain tolerance is different and as chronically ill we are forced to put up with pain on a continuse basis.
when you walk into a hospital er the first thing you see is a chart that has emojies and numbers 1-10. the issue with that chart is most ppl. in our comunitty can do dishes and laundry with a pain level of a 6-8 only because hey have to. a normal person would be in the er demanding codine to knock themselves out from the pain.
now you ask why is my title so strange? and what is my point of bringing this up on a platform for people who get it?
my point is that with all my "free time" at doctors and hospital waiting rooms i have had time to come up with something that might be able to bridge the gap.
awhile back i was discussing with someone on instagram how ppl, that wash dishes can do so with such scalding water while if i stuck my hand in id jump away in pain. its not that the water is just not hot, it is just after such a long time under that temprture your body adapts (called homeostasis)
so to the pain of a chronically ill paitent is still strong even if your good at faking it. whatever crazy way you can figure out to get it across to the doctors do so. i do it by saying how many baskets of laundry i can handle some use the spoon theory (which is more for fatuige). but remember that your body just adjusted to a hotter tempreture.

    🧡 World FND Month - April 2021! 🧡

Even though this condition is the second most common neurological disorder that neurologist see, most people with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) are passed from pillar to post, spend years stuck on one waiting list after another, endure test after test after test, before eventually getting a diagnosis. This was also the case for me, and it took over 2 years before I was diagnosed with FND. Once you finally get a diagnosis of FND, you are then faced with a whole different set of problems - there’s no cure, there’s no effective treatments, hardly anyone (including many medical professionals) have ever heard of the condition and even fewer understand it. Which means that you feel that you are constantly having to explain yourself and the condition over and over again. All of which makes it even more difficult on the person with FND and it’s time that changes, so let’s raise awareness of FND and break the stigma attached to it. #FunctionalNeurologicalDisorder #FND #fndhope #fndaware #FND2021 #LetsTalkFND #FNDAwarenessMonth #Disability #MentalHealth #Depression #Anxiety #MightyMinute #CheerMeOn #MightyTogether #ChronicIllness #ChronicIllnessAware #ChronicPain #ChronicPainAware #SpoonTheory #SpoonieProblems

    I’m back!! 👋🏻

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve not posted anything for a few weeks - I haven’t been very well lately. Thankfully it’s not Covid related, I have been battling severe Tonsillitis and it’s been really draining all my energy. It’s hard enough living with chronic illness without having to battle extra health issues on top of it all. The main thing is that I am back on The Mighty, I’ve missed you all! 💝🥰
