#TherapyDogs #Depression #DogTraining #

Dogs are extraordinarily attentive and have an uncanny ability to predict what their owners will do, whether getting the dog a meal or preparing to go on a walk. Dogs also seem attuned to the emotional state of their masters and express contrition when the owner is annoyed. esacare.com/best-dog-trainers

What do you think about people who “use” their dogs as “therapydogs?” I think it makes it harder for those of us who really need them

Sunday giggles #DistractMe #CheckInWithMe #Giggles

And No piglet was harmed in the making of this post

As I adore my Winnie the Pooh and my piglet and eeyore. I have them all above my bed in teddy bears.

But I burst out laughing when I found this on fb earlier. So I'm sorry my friends I just HAD to share it.
So sorry to any vegans or vegetarians. It's just humour and I hope you can laugh like I did. It's my British quirky sense of humour. #52SmallThings #funnysideoflife #ChronicIllness #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder #PsoriaticArthritis #SocialAnxiety #TrigeminalNeuralgia #RareDisease #Bekind #smile #TherapyDogs #Anxiety #PanicAttacks #SphincterOfOddiDysfunction #HighlySensitive #SuicideSurvivor #bekindandloving

What types of mental health issues can be helped by a service dog? Does a doctor usually recommend them? Or do you get one on your own?

Also, once you get the service dog, what if your place doesn’t allow pets, but your doctor recommends having a dog? #ServiceDog #ServiceDogs #EmotionalSupportDog #EmotionalSupportDogs #TherapyDog #TherapyDogs

"How To Start Your Week" (Daily Check-in)

I'm checking in with the prompts from the Daily Check-in email from Monday, June 10th, 2019:

- I feel...
- I need...
- I forgive...
- I celebrate...

- I feel...hopeful, optimistic and inspired.
- I need...to tap into my self-confidence so that I can continue on this path to self-improvement, self-sufficiency, independence and, in the end, hopefully, a sense of stability when it comes to my mental health.
- I forgive...myself for making excuses that kept me from taking the first step.
- And I'm celebrating progress!

(The back story to my check-in is this: I have a SEVERE case of agoraphobia. I never leave my home and sometimes getting out of bed is extremely hard...My parents do all my shopping for me or I shop online and it was just getting worse and worse...I recently moved (to live with my parents since it was becoming impossible for me to live alone) so I've been having to find new mental health providers and the center I started working with has first off, assigned a "skills development coordinator" who will come to my house and work with me for two hours every single week to develop coping skills, a "crisis kit" and then eventually she will start introducing me, slowly, into social situations and other general situations that are outside of my house to help me overcome my issues. She and I had our first session today. I'm really happy about it.
Secondly, I was assigned a case manager who is going to come over to my home before each of my therapy appointments which my actual licensed counselor to take a walk with me or do some other activity before taking me to and from my counseling appointments. Finally, because my therapist's schedule is so full, I can only see her once every 3 weeks or once a month maybe, and I need to be able to see someone weekly. So my parents, under the advice of my case manager and therapist, etc, have agreed to sign me up for online counseling that will provide me with support on almost a daily basis. So, a lot of good things have happened today.)

Do any of you guys have dogs to ease the symptoms of BPD? #dog #TherapyDogs

I am really struggling with my very real abandonment issues. Every person I have tried having a relationship with has left me - some several times.

I am desperately lonely and would just like to have someone or something to share my love with - and to not get left again. I am not giving up on people completely yet, but would like to have a trusted companion to share my time with.

I have been thinking about getting a dog some time now. I am very active; I train, jog or trek 5-9 times a week to ease my anxieties and to sooth myself.

Any experiences on having a dog as a BDP companion?
