chatcat761 Cathy Carlile Turner

#chatcat76 I'm so excited...I found myself! Please don't reply to the text in the title as this is my home. I'm so sorry. I bet I'm the first one to make a mistake! The name of my closed group is Let's See the Patient. I'd love for you to join, as I'm getting all my writings together about my Chronic illnesses and I love to help make appointments go better. Soon, when I'm eligible, (I'm new, so I might not be "old" enough yet), I'd love to do "rooms". I'll get my story in asap. But I'm pausing for a flare to end!

Have a good ??? My husband forgot to tell me what day it is.

What is this group about? #TBI #CervicalDystonia #Neuropathy #ChronicEpsteinBarrVirus #DoctorVisit #PatientAndDoctorExperiences

You can see this group is about anything. I wish it wasn't! I didn't put Childbirth, as I don't think it applies! lol. But one thing is...you can't get well or better if your doctor doesn't understand. You know that! Don't be afraid to search for one who does! I AM NOT A DOCTOR, but I've been in the medical field 20 years before disability. I've never stopped. Advocacy because of my love. While I am weary and have shut down many sites, I love Mighty so here I am.

If you have questions, I beg you to be as specific as your comfort level allows. (regarding the relationships) There are ways to make your visits rewarding and helpful for getting better. I can attest to this. I've lived through things that are a bit shocking, but having the right doctors and mind set, is what saved my life. I am recovering from something now, so thanks for your patience.

Something we have known for a long time, but it's not spoken about. Again, I do not "bash", but I urge you to go with your gut. Harvard found (as if it was new) the 3rd leading cause of death. And many believe it is higher, as most are unreported. This is not to scare, but to inform you in all honesty, you must be involved in your care. Trust, transparency etc... is a must. I will do a video to show what is needed for doctor visits at another time. Please, it's your life, and make it worth getting better!

Quick Tip Thursday: Have a Written or Typed List of All of Your Medications for Your Healthcare Provider

Make a complete list of all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, and give a copy to your healthcare provider at your next visit. You can keep this list with your other medical records as a written or typed document that you can update when necessary.

What do I do now….?

Had a thorough few appointments with a neuropsychologist. FINALLY. After many, many years of turmoil and suffering searching for one; searching for someone to listen and take me seriously. I thought this was finally it.

WHAT do you do, though, when the doctor basically says to you that your SYMPTOMS are causing your symptoms???
Without even realizing it on their own that they’re saying something almost criminally absurd? And then leaves you with nothing. No answers.

I’m just sitting here crying and feeling like I can’t keep going on today… #Depression #Anxiety #ChronicPain #HEDS #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #Fibromyalgia #HashimotosThyroiditis #ThyroidCancer #ChronicMigraineSyndrome #chronicmigraine #BrainFog #SocialAnxiety #MigraineWithAura #DoctorVisit #DoctorShopping ?! #ADHD #AdultADHD #UndiagnosedADHD #ADHDInGirls #Adhdinwomen #Dyscalculia

Doctor's appointment

I went to the doctor's yesterday for a medication check-up. I told the doctor that I wasn't feeling like the doses needed to be increased, so she kept them at the same doseage for right now. She also asked for blood work to see how everything is going. The lab technician got it on the first try, which I still find amazing since my veins are deep. The only thing I didn't like about the doctor's visit was the weight checking, which left me feeling down. Plus the drive home from the doctor's made me tired, so I slept pretty good last night. Had enough energy to do a morning workout on the excercise bike this morning and I feel great. #DoctorVisit #bloodwork #MorningWorkout

Doctor

So, I went to the doctor for the first time in a long time today. I went for a pregnancy test (I don't want to disclose the result because that's not the purpose of this post) but, the doctor and I started discussing my mental health. I said it's bad, but I am dealing with it the best I can. First, she pushed meds. Said I am too severe to not be on medication. Then, she asked some of my concerns; some things that stress me out in life. I told them to her, she responded with "thats not something worth being concerned about so just move on." She then stated the following, word for word "as an outsider looking in, you have no business being pregnant or trying to bring another child into your home when you are this messed up, and as a family doctor, not a counselor, I believe you haven't even really told me anything yet! Please do not bring another child into your home. Get on birth control, depression meds and meds for whatever else you have and fix yourself first." I am very upset, but not very surprised #BipolarDepression #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder #severedepression #Anxiety #DoctorVisit

Self care ideas? Rough day.

I had a quadruple EMG today, and neck and back done too. Then a doctors appointment in the afternoon to go over it where they said either cancer or some rare autoimmune disease that they don’t know about.
I’m deflated, and in pain physically. I’d love some self care ideas 💡 #Cancer #emg #tests #autoimmune #Selfcare #Pain #sad #Depression #DoctorVisit

Misdiagnosis

Suggestions on talking to your doctor that you suspect a misdiagnosis? Internally screaming but the convo needs to happen. #Advice #DoctorVisit

I’m so scared.

I’ve had constant GI issues for 3 months now. I am vomiting about two out of every seven days, and I’ve lost 25 lbs so far. I’ve been hospitalized once and they’ve found nothing. I’m finally scheduled for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy on Tuesday, but I’m so afraid they won’t find anything. That is always how it goes for me. Tests always come back normal and my problems are dismissed. But this time, I don’t know what I’ll do if that happens. I can’t keep going like this. I need help. I’m getting so weak. My anxiety is starting to overwhelm me and I don’t know what to do with it. #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #ChronicIllness #Anxiety #DoctorVisit
