Pride can sometimes come after a fall #Depression #Pride #Anxiety #Relationships #MentalHealth

3 weeks ago I tripped on some branches from a tree I was pruning. My leg landed on a branch and instantly my leg started to swell with a significant lump.

I went straight to see my GP who agreed to see me immediately because he was very concerned, as was I, that 2 years ago I came perilously close to losing a leg due to unexplained acute spontaneous compartment syndrome.

He did a thorough examination and was pleased it didn’t indicate anything other than deep bruising. The pain was very intense but I didnt for strong pain medication because frankly I didn’t want to appear as weak or drug dependent.

A week later I had to see him for something else but this time I asked for the strong meds as well as a repeat prescription.

I was too proud to ask earlier for the meds. My medication options are limited. I am allergic to oxytocin and ibuprofen interacts badly with my cardiac meds and quickly leads to kidney failure.

My pride after the fall meant a week of intense pain.

I have often preached on the benefits of asking for help. I needed to heed my own advice!!!

Happy Pride Month

June is definitely one of my favorite months of the year. I get to go out and celebrate with other lgbtq people in my community and feel heard. But not by everyone- my relatives have not wished me a happy pride and it’s a significant one. I started testosterone in May. I feel so much more like myself- more confident, more energetic, happier mood wise- I don’t feel the same when I’m off it. Last year, my father brought me pride cupcakes from work and it was a really nice gesture. My sister made me rainbow pancakes. My mother on the other hand, unless I forgot, hasnt really done much during pride for me. She attended an event with me last year which was nice, but refused to take a photo with me with the professional photographer at the event, saying that her “church friends would not approve.” It was my mother who drove me to attempt suicide because she’s never approved of who I am. Everything is always conditional. Regardless, I will remain true to myself- I am Kai and I’m a transgender male and that’s not going to change. #Pride #LGBTQ #Transgender #nonbinary

Happy #Pride month everyone!

I have been struggling a lot lately. I am also looking for a girlfriend to chat with online when I am lonely or need a close friend. Someone who will love to flirt, someone compassionate and someone who is sensitive and understanding. Lately it's been a struggle for me as I tried to establish a relationship with a male friend of mine, but he was not a good person for me. XoXo wish me luck. 🤞

One (RANT) DAY at a TIME

I’ll have #Gooddays & I’ll have bad, though I’m still constantly struggling with my #innerself daily. There are a lot of things I know I have to do, but either my #Anxiety gets worked up, or I’ll try to get it done, or I tell and/or give myself reminders & still somehow end up forgetting about it or I’ve become distracted.

I’ve noticed that my train of thought can now go all over the place. Which is why I now have a lot of notebooks that I could use if I needed to let it out.

When it comes to phone calls I need to make, or appointments to schedule… I spend hours worrying about the #Start - #during - & #End of the whole thing. Before I know it, I can’t call because they’re now closed. Of course now I’ve become #Irritated & #angry at myself.

It never used to be this hard. I know I need to find a job, even IF the job I had #terminated me in part of my #MentalIllness . I feel stuck with no #Positivity in site. & It doesn’t help that even with or without my anxiety ramping up, my #Pride will not let me ask for help.

But…
•I give myself a ‘thumbs up’ daily for getting out of bed.
• I cheer when I have motivation to shower.
• I pat myself on the back, in my mind of course… when I do laundry & put them away.

I still struggle with driving anywhere if I’m alone. Hunter, who is my furbaby soulmate, but also my #esa is always by my side, & either one of my sons or sometimes both would join me so I’m not freaking out while driving on the road.

I feel #Guilt that I’m not being the mom that they need me to be. I feel bad every single time I ask them for help (when I’m getting #overwhelmed trying to tidy up the house). I am mad that my #breakdown caused me to fail in my performance at work & that I #Struggled to do the things they asked of me (because I was never informed from the start that there was info that they could show me & help me with #FMLA ‘cause it would’ve been easy back then to get things in order than it was a couple of months ago). I felt #invisible . I felt my #Voice didn’t matter. I tried… all by myself… in the end, the company I loved working at didn’t give a … about me.

I’m sorry for ranting about nonsense. :(

This weekend, the City of Calgary celebrated Pride. It is one of my favourite times of the year. I've marched in the parade numerous times, and been a cheering supporter just as many. It fills me with so much hope, so much happiness, to see all the rainbow people, all the allies, everyone who thinks it's okay to just be who you are, gathered together in celebration. When I see those rainbows, even when it's not Pride, I feel that hope.

It's hard to explain to someone why Pride is important if they've never had to pretend to be something they're not. I knew I liked other boys by the age of 11. It's not that tough a concept to grasp. The same time that heterosexual people began noticing members of the opposite assigned gender, I began noticing everyone. It kind of ruled.

Until I realized that it was the sort of thing that could, quite literally at the time, have put my life in danger. So I hid. The proverbial closet took me in and kept me safe, but also kept me separated from a side of myself that I've only recently been able to express and embrace. I had to hide myself away, and I mourn the life I might have had in a more accepting world.

So when I see the rainbows, when Pride is around the corner and I see the city dressing up for us, showing us its support, when I watch the kings, queens, bankers, bakers, retirees, teenagers, everyone from every walk of life marching together in that parade, cheering together in that parade....

Yeah. That gives me hope. My dear queer Calgary family. I hope I'm there to celebrate with you again next year. Happy Pride!

"While you expressed #Gratitude for the #Opportunity to provide visibility on the subject of abuse toward the 2SLBGTQIA+ #Community , you felt that #CBC made choices which diluted your appearance. It left you feeling, if not misrepresented, then underrepresented."

It feels as if #CBC chose to represent me as what I interpret as inept, powerless, and stuck with candy-coated concerns because who I am isn't palatable enough for Canadians who can't cope that #people such as myself strive to inspire and create #change .

#social platforms highlighted my segment as being of the utmost importance on an issue that had not been placed front and centre in the campaign until my appearance.

I continued to focus much of my argument on the treatment of my introductory video. I emphasized how problematic it was that this video highlighted "my love for #Sports and karaoke" while omitting more substantive #Comments about the importance of placing responsibility for bigotry and hate-based abuse on the abusers rather than the victims.

"I'm an undecided voter because" and "Let's be #leaders …" were extracted from two completely different sections of what I provided. #CBC created that line and not me, and I'm not sure if that is conducive to "accuracy."

"You stated that you followed all the directives given to you in advance by producers, yet you were the only one of the four participants given less than 40 seconds of airtime."

"You also reiterated that #CBC exercised poor judgment when it failed to include your exchange about pronouns with #ErinOToole .”

#CBC watered me down and presented me with the safest, most palatable and most comfortable image they could build based on the information I provided.

"Your complaint is, first and foremost, a reminder that the stories journalists tell are not really "theirs." They are the stories of real #people with real lives, ambitions, and concerns."

Journalistic Standards and Practices covers much ground regarding ethical #Journalism but doesn't cover specific circumstances.

"There is more debate to be had about editing your introductory video … it's clear that those producers took two risks with your video."

"On your frustration that the #question you asked on the show was "negotiated," … I worried it meant that programmers were forcing you to ask the questions that they wanted."
