I suck at deadlines :/ and being goal driven, I am somewhat ambitious and work on good things for my recovery, but it’s hard to complete goals or stick to deadlines without anxiety stressing too much or avoidance, any help working with SMART Goals or other hacks you use for your own struggles?

Ice Baths for Fibromyalgia

I've found some success using cold showers for fibro flares. After some research into the potential benefits of cold therapy and breathwork (Wim Hof Method), I decided to try ice bath plunges. It's definitely challenging, but I'm curious to track my results. Has anyone else incorporated ice baths into their routine?#Fibromyalgia #ChronicPain #Hacks

Wellness Wednesday: Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic Neuropathy is simply nerve damage caused by prolonged high blood sugar levels from diabetes.

There are four types of diabetes-related neuropathy:

🔹 Peripheral- nerve damage, usually in the hands and feet.
🔹 Autonomic - damage to the nerves that manage every day body functions. These functions include blood pressure, heart rate, sweating, bowel and bladder emptying, and digestion.
🔹 Proximal- nerve damage in your hip, buttock, or thigh.
🔹 Focal- damage to single nerves, single nerve damage most often your hand, head, torso, or leg.

Neuropathy may have no symptoms at all in its earliest stages, but as the condition progresses, people start experiencing various forms of paresthesia. Symptoms include:

🔹Tingling
🔹Numbing
🔹Burning sensation
🔹Pain

There is currently no cure for neuropathy pain. However, healthy blood sugar levels can slow the process and ease the pain of diabetic neuropathy. Your doctor can suggest changes to gently bring your levels down into the healthy zone such as:

🔹 Consuming a diet high in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, and whole grains; moderate in fish, poultry, nuts, and beans; and low in red meat
🔹 Keeping your weight at a healthy level
🔹 Stress management
🔹 Exercising for at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week
🔹 Following doctor's instructions to take prescribed medication to lower your blood sugar as recommended

Other ways of easing diabetic neuropathy include:

🔹 Taking an Over-the-Counter Pain Reliever with doctor’s approval
🔹 Vitamin D from food and supplements
🔹 Avoid Smoking
🔹 Take a B Vitamin Complex
🔹 Soak in a Warm Bath
🔹 Take an Alpha-Lipoic Acid Supplement (600 mg daily)
🔹 Exercise
🔹 Try Capsaicin Cream
🔹 Caring for your feet
🔹 Learning Relaxation Techniques

How do you stay cool during the warmer months?

It’s almost summer where I live and oh wow, is it hot right now. I am doing absolutely everything I can to keep cool. I have been taking cooler showers, sleeping with less blankets, drinking more water and electrolytes. And yet… I am still finding myself overheating in the middle of the day. How do you stay cool when the weather is in the 90s (30s for our Celsius friends) and above? Let me know ☀️

P.S. Stay cool!
