📢 Calling all those impacted by EDS! 📚

I'm currently working on a book centered around the experiences of living with EDS, and I'd love for you to be a part of it.

It started as a memoir but has expanded to focus more on a collective narrative around EDS.

Your voice matters! By sharing your unique perspective, we can create a rich tapestry of narratives that truly represent the diverse experiences within the EDS community.

The goal? To delve into how your life experiences before diagnosis shape your journey with EDS, and to gain insight into how you navigate life with this chronic illness over time.

Interested in being heard? Click the link below to fill out the questionnaire and any questions/problems just give me a shout:

EDS Book Questionnaire

Let's make our voices heard together! 🌟 #EDSAwareness #EDS #EhlersDanlos #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #shareyourstory

EDS Book Questionnaire

Hi, Scott here. Fill out the questions below in as much or as little detail as you want, or are able for. Also, just skip any questions you don't want to answer. Also, if you feel that a call would be better email me and we can get something set up. The aim is to better understand the influence that your life experience prior to diagnosis on how you relate to and manage EDS as well as trying to get a better understanding of how you view your ability to function in life with EDS and how that has changed over time. I am using diagnosis as a landmark event that we all share, but if you'd prefer you can think of it as when things started to go wrong for you. To clarify. I am using EDS as a label to keep things simple but I am including Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders in the discussion. All responses will remain confidential and will not be shared publicly without prior permission. Any questions or problems, email me scottorrance@gmail.com

What are some of the things you struggle with as someone with health conditions?

For me, feeling alone and worrying about facing ableism are almost as difficult as my actual symptoms. What are some challenges you face? #MightyTogether #CheckInWithMe #shareyourstory

Do you feel endlessly restless?

I have #Depression and #Anxiety and I'm wondering if this is a common feeling for others with mental illness. I often find myself feeling restless; not like tossing and turning, more... existentially restless. I will settle into a chapter of my life (i.e. starting college, moving towns, getting a good job) and within months feel like I need change. It feels like I want to run, to leave everything behind and go somewhere better, somewhere new. It often comes with stress, which as an anxious person, is ever-present. Does anyone relate? #shareyourstory

How to not Therapize Your Girlfriend

Provide a safe space for your girlfriend to explore her own emotions safely with you and yes, without you. Encourage her to speak to a licensed professional when feeling the urge to offer advice when maybe, she just needs someone to listen to her vent.

Be a shoulder to cry on without trying to fix the reason that’s causing her tears. It’s hard to see the ones we love in pain, but it’s better to provide healthier options to cope with negative emotions or symptoms of any mental distress.

When your girlfriend is struggling and all you want to do is help, the best thing could be seeking a therapist, counselor, psychologist, mental health doctor, etc.

There’s only so much we can do until given the right tools as an educated support system!

Best wishes,
VeganSarah

Mental Health and Wellbeing Platform

I'm new here but I wanted to welcome everyone who reads this to share their story and check out a mental health and wellbeing platform called Learn 2 Listen. Everyone's story deserves to be told and there is so much good that can come from reflecting internally and a cathartic release that can happen once we share these realities. Here is the website: www.learn2listen.live #MentalHealth #vulnerability #shareyourstory #compassion #Podcast

What do you do when you're feeling #Blue #Lowmood #copinghow ? #shareyourstory #whathelpsyousmile #whohelpsyousmile #Depression #stratergy

Through being ill for over 11years one of the awful parts is suffering with depression. So have found over the years, ways of coping to understand that I may not be able to.control my low moods but I can work through them by finding ways of coping so that I don't spiral or lose control...one of the best tonics for me is simply just seeing my grandsons, they have such a beautiful, innocent gift that they share with me. Their smiles, faces, eyes, scent, are all so powerful, at times, more effective that any medication that I take!
Please, if you wish, share with me & others, your reasons for smiling even when you're low 🙂

What do you do to manage the pain?

I had to get off of my Fibro meds due to pregnancy, I'd like to stay off of them but the pain is extreme. What are some ways you manage the pain that work despite or as well as the meds?
I'm always hurting weather I'm on them or not but maybe you have some ideas?
