How to know if you fall on ADHD/ ADD spectrum or just personality/ bad habits?

Recently I’m noticing my lack of being able to stay on task be easily distracted not very motivated, super disorganized, etc might be potentially something else? Personally I’ve always thought 💭 it’s just a personality trait and bad habits I have to work on, helps when I turn off my phone or try to limit distractions but even then it’s really hard to get a lot done, I’m horrible at time management and using the day to the fullest. It’s hard to know whether it’s my normal or if maybe I do have some symptoms or overlap of adhd/ add?

I’ve only been diagnosed with chronic anxiety/ depression. But I know sometimes people can have multiple disorders.
I know only a psychiatrist or doctor etc can know, but guess just wanted to ask any tips if even if you can be low functioning, high functioning, or low on the symptoms / spectrum if you can still be diagnosed.

I feel some symptoms or signs I’m high on and others I rank low so it’s hard to know if it does apply to me or I just have to work on these areas and it’s just tech brain
🧠 bad habits developed or so on.

Thanks for any advice! Maybe I’ll try out some online tests to see how I rank, and eventually ask a psychiatrist or person if I can find one with all the wait lists.

I guess maybe Im scared to develop any more disorders when I already have a heard enough time coping with mine. But if I do have something it’s better to learn how to treat it than ignore it. Or even if I’m not diagnosed or apply to having add or adhd

But could benefit from cbt or techniques people use to cope with similar symptoms or struggles I have? Thanks for any comments!? Guess I somewhat notice it but have had it since my teens so I figure it’s just a part of my character, hard to know if it’s something else or not. #ADHD #ADD #neurodiverse #Brain #Curious #New #mighty #Advice #help #MentalHealth #Anxiety #Depression #Tips #CBT #psychology #counselling #Comments #yourexperience #thanks #confused #coping #struggling

#Months of health issues and changes

#thanks everyone for been here and I want to apologize for being away from The Mighty. I am having almost three months having many health issues, Ménière’s disease now bilateral, new medications to help with dizziness, nausea, vertigo, and having problems with an eye infection that is taking to long to heal. Thanks so much

Trigger Warning ⚠️ What helps you with chronic suicidal thoughts but no plan to act on them?

Thank you for any help sometimes I feel like I can’t cope well with life or when things get dark I get like that but I don’t want to go back to past attempts like I have, reaching out for help but curious for those who can relate to having those thoughts 💭 at times when life is a bit of a mess

But do your best to ignore them. What helps you cope or accept them. Besides reaching for help which is always the best to do so you’re not alone.

I started an Anxiety Journey YouTube Channel. Would mean a lot to get a little support! I’m so nervous !

Hi there I usually post quotes on a mental health friendly supportive Instagram account, occasionally I journal or blog very rarely on blogs I’ve tried before, but I’ve never ever been brave enough to show my face and actually try a YouTube account D: and not be more anonymous behind the screen supporting. I would really appreciate any love or opinions before I risk getting hate comments or trolls with mental health stigma haha > mental health advocate than 😅😂🤣 people actually see it. But I would love to be able to help someone out there not feel so alone in their struggles or offer hope if they are just beginning their journey or could use some kind words/ experiences

If anyone could give me a bit of a boost 😂 so I don’t freak out or overthink the fact I actually did this and made it public and it could actually become something meaningful, I appreciate it! But if not :) I’ll do my best to do it myself, thanks! I tried to be brave and just do it instead of only think about it as a new hobby/ outlet.

My YouTube channel is:

My Anxiety Journey

Or was thinking

Inside My Anxiety Journey, since it’ll be pretty personal ^^ and genuine/ raw :p at times telling my experiences or what it’s like struggling with an invisible illness, physical/ mental.

Thanks!

Appreciate any love
I feel so nervous and embarassed. But actually proud I had the guts to do it D: though I was so back and forth about it.

Hope I’ll stick to it whether I receive good feedback or not, to actually make a meaningful difference and get more courage to do other things like this with advocacy groups or opportunities.

youtube.com/@laurao2107

PS the 3 views are probably me 😅😂 overthinking and analyzing it too much but trying not too haha 😛 😆. I’m a work in progress lmfao 🤣 lol.

A really big deal to me, because I’m perfectly fine being open about my experiences and trying to help or relate to others and support them too, but not used to putting it on the internet like that with my face D: and fear the stigma or openness about it it’s so risky hehe but worth it :) in a way. So I hope it’ll be the start of something new and good. Feel free to share if you have any blogs, YouTube accounts or any fun hobbies/ outlets too ! :)

Also** I’m not posting to promote it, hope it’s allowed here, just needed a little love or support so I don’t back out on my idea 😅😅🥺😭😿💡💖😊😛😆😆😆 because I feel so alone in my experiences sometimes, and don’t want others to feel like that too.

And be alone struggling.

My Anxiety Journey

Hi I struggle with anxiety, and mental health/ depression, I know what it’s like to face struggles and stigma, I’m not perfect I feel alone, guilt and shame, I am a work in progress. I get better, and then I get worse, life rotates it’s normal. But if you need any source of hope, inspiration to reach out for help or anything you could find helpful here. I’m more than happy to. I’m not a professional I am just trying a new hobby and outlet hoping to help others like me feel less alone with invisible illness it be physically, mental health/ emotional or so on forth. Even if you don’t struggle I hope I can be a reminder that things do get better, and it’s okay to not always have everything put together. Life can be hard but it can be wonderful too. I wish you all the best on your journey, but this channel is about my anxiety Journey so far, so it’ll be quite deep and personal, but I hope if anyone ever sees this it may be of help. You are not alone. You matter too. Love - Laura O

What podcasts :) do you like/ recommend ?

I am currently reading a helpful Oprah podcast episode from Super Soul Sunday, it helps sometimes to put my life into perspective by hearing other people’s life stories and knowing that I’m resilient doing my best where I currently am at while working towards where I want to go.

How to improve communicate and not just do avoidance?

With anxiety occasionally I’ll avoid things or confrontations, etc unpleasant things, or even procrastinate and so on. Does anyone have any tips to improve and or communicate better my needs or find some middle ground where everyone is happy instead of avoiding the situation in the first place? Mainly family related, but just in general want to improve on the area. Thanks!

What unexpected hobbies have you found that actually helped your mental health?

Typically when people think self-care hobbies, they think: going to a spa or taking a nap. But what if a rock concert is more your speed? Or bowling? Or deep cleaning? Good news: We are each our own person. Even better news: There is no “right” answer as to what hobbies can and do improve our mental health.

I like listening to or making music on my drum…but recently I’ve found sometimes listening to podcasts can be as enthralling. At the beginning of Covid Stay at home I got some Legos and making things with them was fun and a great distraction…so it was a new artistic one…plus using colored pencils filling in mandalas and tattoo flash was surprisingly therapuetc and calming! What have you found works for you?

Here’s a quick check-in for when you’re feeling self-conscious about your preferences…

Q: Does [insert hobby here] help you when you’re down?
A: Yes!
Conclusion: Then you’re doing it right, my friends! (No matter what anyone else believes.)
Share those unexpected hobbies below — we know you got ’em!

I am grateful for all the blessings in my life. At times I feel scared, worried & down. But in reflection I have everything I need & more (see image)

There are a lot of bad things going on in the world today: scary times with extreme weather, very frustrating politics, and death, dying and suffering with Covid. But when I find time and just step back I realize I have so much to be grateful for. I have been so very blessed with a strong network of super supportive friends and family…including all of you here in this group! I’m blessed to have a roof over head, food on the table, comforting home with heat & cold at the right times, the beautiful land we walk on and all the majestic animals who I connect with, great doctors, clinics and I’ve mostly had great hospitals, nurses, PT etc… and my body is very functional…I still have Neuropathy which can be very distracting & painful and I sometimes have debilitating migraines from Long Covid. But in the big picture I have basically survived very scary times with TWO pandemics : being 35 years HIV+ and having Covid big time have both left me fighting for my life …and yet I’m still here to talk about it…so many others are not. I’ll take what hurts and remember I’ve had much worse pain over the years (Yes, it’s all relative and in those worst time all I had to do was STAY ALIVE and family and friends were great loving and supportive care givers, now I live alone, have a active life, and have quite a bit to juggle every week, often every day)…but I can handle it and again …I’ll take the great and let go of the awful any day!

If we simply change our perspective & dig deep, We can realize what is really important is simplicity, peace & calm not stress & attachments

I have spent a large portion of my life, desiring, acquiring and protecting “things” that seem like they were most important for me and defined my reality. But over time I have found I was born with everything I need…a heart that feels, a soul that can soar and a healthy body that can take me anywhere! And along the way I’ve been blessed with finding a network of family and friends whose kindness, support and unconditional love are things to truly treasure. If Gods forbid my house got flattened by a hurricane, burnt by a wild fire, or swept away in a tornado…what will I really have lost…THINGS! But if we all survive and have our health then just the memories of what happened inside that house would be the most important things that we will always possess!
